BookXcess @ MyTOWN Shopping Centre

October 15, 2021 0

Have you heard about the latest BookXcess outlet in MyTOWN Shopping Centre? If you haven't then let me bring you through this beautiful place that will blow your mind away in an aesthetic kind of feel.

Firstly this is a place where it is a safe haven for everyone. You will be able to find a space or a corner that you can find comfort in. Entering the premises you will find the window display is truly a piece of art and how the flow of the structures and a cute Ronald McDonald character look-a-like is being displayed it truly a work of art. In fact, designers who were assigned to this space are given the challenge to be creative and design out-of-the box. Only when the design is complete then they fill it in with all the books and arts all over.

Secondly this place will somehow or rather encourage you to pick up atleast 1 book to take home with you. I picked up tons! Especially for my kids. And there's also stationaries too, which is the first bookstore in BookXcess chains to have stationaries available.

Thirdly, if your spouse dislikes books, just bring them over. They will eventually fall in love with one soon. The entire place is welcoming, warm and just zen to just hang out over a cuppa hot coffee or tea at the Piazza while you watch over your loved one roaming about looking for their favourite author or genres. And if you are an art lover then this is it.

There's an art passageway below the Piazza that takes you through the local arts showcased by local artists in Malaysia that you can bring them home with you.

I love how spacious the entire space is and how the floating bookshelves or towering bookshelves look as a whole. It is all properly labelled so that it is easy to locate your author at the designated book genres labelled on the shelves in text and color codes of Fiction and Non-Fiction. They also have island bookshelves and friendly bookshelves that is easily accessible for shorty like me. If you need a book that is too high up for you to reach, rest assured there is a step stool that you can access to or you can always ask a friendly customer service to assist you.

It is also a place to unleash your creativity where you can request for the music sheets at the counter to have a go at the piano. Sometimes when you need that lil spark to ignite an idea that's cooking in your head, then this is definitely a place you gotta be in.

Be careful of your steps though. Even though it is aesthetic as there are many pebbles and pathways, rest assured that BookXcess also put into thought of your safety and they have warning signages set up at places where you may turn a blind eye upon and use as a shortcut that may be dangerous for you. So always follow the path and always walk on the path, don't take shortcuts because there's no shortcuts in life.

Inside there's also Ume Tei, a japanese restaurant from its humble beginnings and it's been 25 years they've been around in Malaysia. From a lovely couple from japan, you will be delighted to enjoy authentic homecooked japanese meals here at this outlet as the chef is directly from Okinawa, Japan!

There's also a cafe inside the bookstore called Whisk cafe, where you get to enjoy a nice hot cuppa beverage with deliciously lip-smacking cakes to satisfy your sugar-cravings. It's located right next to the Piazza where it is another separate section inside the book store that is a co-working space that is open to anyone who wants to come and just gather, brainstorm some cool ideas or even a place to network. This is also a great place for your other half to wait at and eventually they may take a stroll around and pick up a book in their hands like my husband! (hahaha) It's the only BookXcess outlet with 2 outlets a cafe and a restaurant inside.

There's also these hand drawn mousey paintings below the pillars, so be sure to try and spot them and see how many you can spot them. I thought it was stickers but its completely hand drawn! That is truly creative and intriguing also to have them at random spots under the pillars. There's a space near the Ume Tei restaurant that actually has the Art Installations corner, where you will see collaboration with local artist showcasing their artworks, in this area it is the Tiang, there are 16 Tiang here that are each unique and represents the Fountain of Hope. And BookXcess wants to be a foundation to the art community as well.

If you notice a colorful elephant next to Ume Tei restaurant, don't be surprised but appreciate its uniqueness as it is painted and it is one of a kind, in support of the Elephant conservation. Changing the world one book at a time is the idea that BookXcess has for every one of their bookstores.

What I like is as you enter the outlet, you will see posters and pop arts that you can purchase them home and these are not like your ordinary posters that will wear and tear overtime. These posters are like high gloss canvas types where you can remove and install/hang them easily.

The pricing of the books are truly affordable as we also gotten a few books on hand during our visit here and they have a centralized cashier counter at the center which is not too hard to miss. Don't forget to sign up as a member if you haven't for additional discounts and rewards! I signed up for sure!

Another feature of this space that I love is the kids section. There's a cute bathtub that has the bathbooks in it where it shows that even kids can also have a fun and knowledgeable bath time too with these waterproof books! Who said bath must be boring! And the way the children section is created, is also for parents with prams/strollers that they can push along the ramps without troubles and even your toddler in the prams/strollers can also browse at the books along the way too because it is reachable even for the lil ones in their prams/strollers. Because reading is a good habit that starts from young. And if your child picks up a book and wants you to read it for them, no parent will say no to that for sure!

There's 13 bookstores all over Malaysia by BookXcess and all 13 are of different unique designs, if this space isn't to your liking then try another, there is ought to be one that will come to your liking for sure! And if they manage to make a non-reader become a reader, their goal is accomplished! Because kncwledge has power and BookXcess wants to create a community space for people to gather. Be a part of the whole experience to enjoy the environment. The aim is for Malaysians to be the next generation of readers. Many who comes over to BookXcess comes for a few reasons but most are for inspiration, motivation and some even escapism.

So visit a BookXcess outlet near you today because I'm sure that there will be one that you will surely be attached to like how we grown attached to this BookXcess outlet in MyTOWN Shopping Centre.

Huat! Huat! Celebration with The Bar'n Malaysia

January 21, 2020 0
This 2020 Chinese New Year, if you haven't decided where to feast for this auspicious occasion, then The Bar'n will be the best choice to pick. For its spacious and comfortable environment that each venue carries their own special animal identity. It is a place that has the best of both world -food and drinks!

They also have Yee Sang that you can order to celebrate Chinese New Year with your loved ones!

And what's better to pair it with their amazing meals and wines or alcohol to unwind and dine through the night!

Ps. You can opt for Vegetarian Yee Sang.

We also had the Meat Lover's Platter (RM92) that combines a variety of meat like the deep fried luncheon meat fries, tender juicy chicken wings, marinated and full of flavour pork satay, smoked chicken sausage, dynamite chilli chicken sausage, crispy pork belly and the juicy grilled Lágrima inter coaster pork meat (the meat between the ribs).

Perfect to match with white wine or beer!

Then we also had the Pescatore Pizza (RM35) that is made with homemade tomato marinara with mozzarella cheese, super fresh sautéed prawns, mussels and squids!

Very appetising for a pizza and not too overwhelming. Pairs beautifully with white wine too!

I preferred red wine for its antioxidant and we ordered a bottle of their house wine just to unwind and dine the night away.

The Bar'n actually hosts a different theme at each venue and for IOI City Mall, Putrajaya it was Daisy and Lucky the cow.

I love how the area was decorated! It was cosy and at the same time fun!

And we met Ricky who only had one goal in his mind. And that is to make sure everyone leaves happily. His passion in the restaurant is just inspiring because of his love for the culinary industry where he was a chef for over 30 years.

During our dinner there, he was checking in with people on their experience and just genuinely getting to know us. He was really friendly and approachable. You will surely feel welcome here at The Bar'n, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.

They also have a Cigar room that is properly filtered and closed up that you can have private events or meetings with your business partners.

The BAR°N Opens In Sunway Pyramid

April 09, 2019 0
I've always ventured into this part of Sunway Pyramid, ever since one of my family favourite restaurant moved out, I kept wondering what's next? Today was the Grand Launch Opening of The BAR°N in Sunway Pyramid right outside at the Ground floor, next to the Main Entrance of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. With a special guest appearance by Barny The Camel.

The BAR°N is an established famous large destination for food lovers that has good taste in wine; With their preceding outlets located in Penang, Mont Kiara, Ara Damansara and Kuala Lumpur; Finally, having The BAR°N at Sunway Pyramid lends even more credibility to its vicinity's manner of being one of the ultimate destinations for food lovers in Klang Valley!

I love the ambience and the surroundings which are beautifully decorated in a modern and chic design that offers an alluring appeal for diners and social bugs who simply enjoys stunning flavors, unique dishes and tantalising beverages at reasonable prices with their friends, family and loved ones!

The venue I would say is truly more than just another dining venue. It's an entire WOW experience and developing culture that creates a unique offering that you can't even imagine. From cocktails, to mocktails, to their food line-ups and the racks of wine bottles up on display for your choosing. There's surely something on-the-house to suit everyone's unique taste-buds.

May it be for business or for leisure, this place is definitely one to look forward to with the people you cherish and respect. Because the food here is pretty tasty, appetizing and fresh. They variety of beverages alcohol and non-alcohol is also at an advantage especially if you can't take alcohol but wouldn't want to miss out on the fun times with your friends and family.

They also have created a special cocktail called "The Hump" in celebration of Barny The Camel and will also be served in Sunway Pyramid outlet for the next month with proceedings going to A'Famosa Animal Safari Park in Malacca.

Taste of IndoBowl Cafe in Malaysia

October 21, 2018 2
Indomie is an instant noodle for those of you who don't know. But it is a comfort food for most and also the easiest to prepare from home. However, if it's so easy, why go out to a cafe to indulge in these? Let me share with you WHY you SHOULD visit IndoBowl Cafe!

IndoBowl Cafe brings an authentic and unique twist to Indomie noodles and the way it is served. Each recipe curated is inspired from Indonesia and mixed with the fusion flavours of Malaysia. And just like how Malaysian's are of from many walks of life, with different upbringings from various cultures and heritage; The Indomie flavours are unique and satisfying!

Nasi Goreng Ayam Balado (RM 12) served with fried rice in their IndoBowl Signature Red sambal, topped with a sunny-side up and grilled chicken, tastes really unique on its own. The same signature sambal across most of the menu, protrudes a fresh fragrant chilli aroma and taste, but the spicyness is not too overwhelming and just right. The fried rice is a true comfort food to have and it is crunchy because of the long beans mixed in it. I'd order this anyday!

Indomie Salted Egg Chicken (RM 11.90) served with Indomie, chicken that's fried and covered in golden salted egg yolk. Topped with a sunny-side up and balado at the sides. The balado chilli are handmade with really fresh & young red chillies, hence it's spicyness is not too bad. The salted egg chicken compliments the dish, making it salty, sweet and crunchy, yet slightly spicy. A good mix in a bowl.

Indomie Cheesy Chicken Chop (RM 14.90) is served with chicken chop that is grilled till its skin is crispy and drizzled with their own homemade blend of cheesy sauce. I really love the cheesy sauce for this dish, best choice to have for the kids. Its savoury cheesy and creamy like texture brings out a unique subtle flavour of a hint of mushroom in it. Also the combination of the grilled chicken chop and Indomie, creates a wonderful mix of wonder in this bowl that is really tasty to indulge in. I know my husband who don't like cheese will even finish this in one go! It's not too overwhelming yet tastes great altogether.

Mambo Jumbo Seafood Soto (RM 39.90), served with a variety of seafood like crabstick, fish ball, prawn, sotong and added wiith a grilled fried chicken with 2 soft boiled eggs, taugeh, IndoBowl Signature red sambal and spring onion as garnishing. I love this the most because it has a beautiful aroma of Lemongrass inside and the soup on its own is really pure and with the IndoBowl Signature red sambal inside, it truly gives you a "kick" in the tastebud! However, when you break the egg yolk and mix in this humongous bowl of soto soup, the soup texture changes immediately! It becomes smoother, richer and more fragrant because of the egg. For me this is also spicy but for those who can tolerate spicyness, it will be only slightly spicy for you that you can definitely handle! My nose was a lil runny after eating this because of the chilli but it was really delicious! You can easily share this with 2 to 4 pax!

Indomie Mumbo Jumbo (RM 59), come with Chicken Madura, Lamb Rack, Rib Eye (cut into pieces for easier consumption), 2 pcs of Chicken Satay and 4 pc of sunny-side up eggs. Portion sharing is suitable for 3 to 4 pax and it's also served with 3 sides of sambal for mixing. The onion is mixed with IndoBowl's Signature red sambal and I taste a slight subtleness of lime (if I'm not mistaken) but it tastes really strong and fragrant yet spicy and sour at the same time, the onion gave this dish sting my nose but it is a perfect mix to the Indomie! It's also served with IndoBowl Signature Green chilli that has that salty taste to it and less spicy, almost like assam; And the IndoBowl Signature Red chilli. Basically, I literally mixed all the sambal up together, and I felt my tummy kicking me for sure (NO, I'm not pregnant...yet)

The RoPang Chocolate is sweet chocolatey and salty cheesy flavour topped on 2 piece of bread (it's almost like eating french toast). Your kids will love it and it's a very fulfilling dish on its own.

The RoPang Corn has a more sweet and rich taste of corn and saltiness from the cheese. Makes a great dessert to have for sharing.

Soda Gembira (Normal RM 6, Giant RM 8.90) is soda with syrup and milk with chia seeds in it.

From Left : Soda Gembira & Es Cendol
Es Cendol (Normal RM 6, Giant RM 8.90) has a mild sweet and smooth flavour of cendol with corn, gula melaka, milk and coconut.

IndoBowl Cafe is managed by 3 unique individuals where their ideas and concept originated and inspired from Indonesia. Started back in September 2017, the idea came along when it was realized that no restaurants in Malaysia has managed to grasp an Indonesian street food concept with affordable prices. IndoBowl's Signature dish and spexialization is the one and only Indomie that Asians around the world, enjoys the most! Customers can find various renditions of the noodles erved in different flavours and textures here in IndoBowl Cafe. Their Signature Sambal is made from scratch; Even their sauces and marination also all made from scratch. Their sambal is really fresh and if you are a spicy lover, you will probably feel that the sambal is mild for your tastebuds which you can add more to your liking; But if you have sensitive tastebuds like me (like a baby tastebud) then you will definitely taste the pure chilli taste and freshness of the chilli in this.

Veggie World Veggie Café, Puchong Malaysia Review

April 05, 2018 8
My whole life, I have been a strong supporter of eating meat! Yes, I admit, I am a meat lover! Because I have tried vegetarian food before and I find it either too bland, too much flour and kinda costly.

However, this café changed my perception on Vegetarian food forever! A humble cafe nestled in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong (near Giant Hypermarket) for over 1 year plus. Serving you vegetarian food in appenty of variety of Western and Local cuisines!

With its spacious setting inside that's cosy, comfortable & suitable for everyone and is family-friendly!

Their menu consists of a variety of food for your choosing. And if your kids wants Fried Chicken, Burgers, Pastas or even Pizzas; You can order it here! (100% Vegetarian and homemade from scratch!)

My kids were curious why I am here in this Veggie Café, just look at this guy staring back at me.

The decoration is really neat too! Just watch out for your kid as they may attempt to peel it off the walls like my son over here...

The food was really delicious and tasty. To be honest, when you're inside, it doesn't feel like you're in a vegetarian restaurant. When the food arrives and all, you'd totally forget you're eating vegetarian food! Because it tastes so real, so good and the pricing is affordable too!

This is the chicken rice! The "chicken" is actually mushroom and doesn't taste like mushroom. The best part is the coating is homemade and when u tear the mushroom in half, the insides look like chicken meat and just below the coating it seems as if there's a chicken skin then but it's not!

This specialty the owner specially learned how to make it from China.

Burgers! Veggie Chicken Burgers with Egg, you can choose to opt. out the egg and Fish Burger. My kids love this! They love the fries for sure, and the burger is really tasty! Even better than the ones by the street and McD! Their sauces are all homemade too! Not your ordinary ketchup or mayo.

My eldest really enjoy this Veggie Chicken Burger! Plus it's so huge, can share with 2 people if you're a small eater! This is a Monster Burger size by the way.

The fish burger as you can see is really fulfilling and the vegetables portions inside is really generous. Scrumptious with every bite!

The pasta is really tasty too! The sauce is lovely and you won't find it anywhere because it is made from scratch! Not those pasta sauces from the shelves. Definitely a must try! Portion also huge!

Pizza! Who don't love pizza?! Yummy pizza where it's dough and sauce all made from scratch, 100% vegetarian and tasty for the whole family! Tastes better than the other pizza's that you know of! Trust me! The pizza though is baked really well and it's soft enough with the crunchy crust on the sides! Great as a sharing platter!

This yummy crunchy roll appetizer looks lovely! My kids love it so much that, they finished it all for me. I didn't get the chance to try it at all. Boohoo!!

For drinks we had Carrot juice and also Dragonfruit juice. It wasn't too sweet, just nice and very refreshing to quench your thirst with. I love the Dragonfruit especially! Good for detoxing too hehe!

Such a generous portions of serving for each meal! You have to come by and experience the flavours yourself! It's not your ordinary vegetarian restaurant with rice and veg.

If your kids HATES vegetables, this is the place to be! They will thank you for it! Don't have to even tell them it's vegetarian! Just order and eat, they won't even realize it at all.
