Ngopi, Kangar Perlis

February 14, 2023 0

The 2nd day in Perlis, we drove out to Ngopi at Perlis to enjoy breakfast over there. At first I thought, is this just some regular joint for a cup of coffee? But then I was already in for a thrill of a lifetime at the entrance itself! Because even opening the entrance door was a challenge to me, lol!

But I must say that it was one of my favourite place there that until this very day I can still imagine sinking my tooth into its crispy crusty buttery flaky warm croissant sandwich and pastry goods!

The space inside is very aesthetic with a tree and sunny area in the center. Very earthy, makes you want to sit longer. The food and the coffee and chocolate looks so good here! But seriously don't be deceived by the looks!

We had to take a wefie and cheers to the hot fresh bakeries here. It is Ngopi's own recipe, own homemade delicacies. Definitely you will not want to miss this! Even the sauce also all made in house, own recipe! You can never get this at the nearby supermarkets.

When we came back to Perlis again the second time, we also came here to pack their goodies to go! It was just not to be missed. And my family agreed!

This was the trickiest yet coolest door to the entrance of Ngopi, I don't know if it is just me but twice I was here and twice I opened the door wrongly, it just wouldn't budge. But it opens easily rest assured.

Their belgium chocolate was very rich in flavour and I came to know that all the ingredients including the sauces for the sandwiches are all made there! And yes, I had to mention this again because it is really a flavour you must try for yourself, words cannot express how delicious these bakeries are.

The latte art is truly beautiful and although it may seem common, until you take a sip, then you will think otherwise.

These were my favourite, the Chocolate croissant, hot and crispy outside but super moist and juicy inside. And the fragrance of the croissant just hits you like cupid!

The space inside is really spacious, even when it was crowded the second time we came, it was still cosy and not noisy. The environment also plays a huge part in this cafe.

Having a cuppa coffee here is truly god-sent that I had to pack this to go on my next destination!

I was asking the owner if he will franchise out soon and it seems like yes, the chances are very high that they may be coming over to Klang valley soon, but before that happens and before it gets super viral, come and visit the origin outlet to experience the real deal yourself!

@sebrinahyeo Breakfast was truly the best here! I have never eaten crispy crusty freshly baked croissants and panini sandwiches that is crusty outside and soft and fluffy inside! You must come here and try it! Their belgium chocolate was also appetising, my boys sure gonna love it! And their latte is really good! The best way to start the day over here at @ngopikangar This outlet was just opposite @unicastanaholidays office, very easy to locate! And I heard that they are franchising out and soon you will see them all around Malaysia. #TravelogueMalaysia #TravelogueMalaysiaPerlis #unicastanaholidays #igersfood #foodie #Ngopi #NgopiKangar #Perlis #LetsTravelwithOurUnicStyle #barista #breakfast ♬ original sound - Sebrinah Yeo

Sadiah Cafe at Perlis

February 13, 2023 0

If you ever visit Perlis, please make time to visit Sadiah Cafe. If not, you probably never came to Perlis. This place is a very family-friendly cafe that you can enjoy local favourites right smack in the center of the paddy field! It is very aesthetic and healing just being here; especially when the cool breeze brushes unto your skin, you can just enjoy fresh air with no pollution here.

The view here is truly a magical place to be. The mountain view and the clear blue sky. You can literally watch the clouds move here and it is just so calming and peaceful throughout. In fact, my husband said this is a runner's track, many people has come here to jog around the paddy fields and mountain and the view is just wondrous which I will share in my post of "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation".

What you see here above is an aerial view when you dine-in at Sadiah Cafe rooftop. We had our dinner here and it was the best choice ever, in fact if you come here at the right timing, in the morning you can watch the sunrise and in the evening the sunset as well!

When I said this was family-friendly I weren't joking. Downstairs is the kids corner where they can draw and play in this little room inside. So if you have little kids, don't worry, they will have the bestest time of their life over here! So thoughtful of the owner for such initiative!

Their western platter is super generous in portion and is huge! I love western food and I must say that they really serve good western food here that you gotta experience it. The meat were crispy juicy and tender at the same time, the spaghetti sauce was just appetizing, and even the lamb also not hard to chew on. Your elderly parents also will totally approve of this dish!

I just had to take selfie shots, it's so beautiful, this swing decorated with the floral and the background is not a backdrop but it's a real background that is just worth spending time selfie and wefie all the way here.

I got to enjoy the local delicacy here the "Urap Jagung" that is really a new dish I have never heard of, or rarely heard of. And it was lovely! In fact I was actually seated in the middle of the paddy field when I took this shot.

Would you just admire this shot for a few minutes. This is like shellout in your face! But the portion is so so generous! I don't even need to topup for more because it's so huge, the servings are super fresh and to my greatest pleasure, it was not as spicy as I feared it would be! I would ask for extra rice if I were still 82kg back then, but I couldn't finish now even though I wanted so badly to. But we did "tapao" take away the leftover! So nice la! Definitely must come here and eat this dish especially for dinner!

And their drinks truly match the skies and earth. All of different flavours and combinations and each one also sedap, tasty, delicious. Whichever you pick it will be a sure win flavour! And we will definitely be back again!

And there you go, we came back again for the harumanis season and stayed at "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation"

We wanted to have breakfast at Sadiah Cafe because it was just RM2 per pax buffet style! However, it was almost sold out by 8am, there was an event and there were lots of people there for teambuilding activities so we missed it. Nevertheless we still packed to go breakfast from Sadiah to enjoy it at their "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation" which we chose to have a nice breakfast at the rooftop of "Rumah Sadiah".

Breakfast here was really exciting because one minute it was sunny and the next, you can see the dark clouds carrying the rain across from the mountains moving towards the paddy field.

Nice view, nice local favourite breakfast "Nasi not-so-lemak", that's what I call it because it's not oily le, means good la, healthier than the Nasi Lemak we eat at KL. But it is tasty! Pedas/Spicy also. Got kick!

We are enjoyed our pulut with Harumanis mango here. It was truly a delicacy that you should not miss! And my favourite Urap Jagung that my kids also loved it so much!
@sebrinahyeo The best mango ever! Harumanis Perlis from @Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Super juicy, meaty, sweet and succulent! Makes you ask for more! This is why we came back here again because I know they wont disappoint! #traveloguemalaysia #perlis #mangga #mangoperlis #harumanis ♬ original sound - Sebrinah Yeo

Just the view itself also amazing! I don't know which is more beautiful, the view, the sky, the environment, the food, maybe it's all of it combined. This picture is worth a million hearts in my memories!

The "Urap Jagung" from Sadiah cafe is must must must have. I specially requested for it because my kids truly enjoyed every bit of it. Afterall, mommy's favourite is also their favourite.

And I must say, this dish is pretty new to me. It's eaten like this, mix the Harumanis mango with the urap jagung on the pancake. Very tasty le! I never had such combination before but even hot wraps should check out this combination.

How could I not order Harumanis before heading back le?! Straight from "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa".

I helped my friend to also order 3kg of it! She loved it so much! It was really tasty and thanks to thiss I can differentiate the real Harumanis versus the Thailand ones. Some actually bring Thailand ones in and call it Harumanis back here in KL but actually it is not and they overpriced it like crazy!! I only paid RM100 for a box of 3kg of Harumanis from Perlis.

I love how the flavours blend together and everything here is in-house homemade, it's a family business that is surely worth mentioning.

Now who wouldn't love Sadiah Cafe and the food and beverage that they offer! If I stayed here, this will probably be my regular hangout.

@sebrinahyeo Makanlah! Tunggu apa lagi! After feeding my iPhone first baru I feed my tummy at @SadiahCafe in Perlis with @TravelogueMalaysia The meals prepared here are truly generous and delicious! It was my first time experiencing this Urap Jagung (Jagung Kelapa), their Mix Grill is really appetising and generous in portions. And their shell out is seriously way tastier! For someone like me who can’t handle spicy food, this shell out was just nice, not too spicy and not too bland! Means spicy lovers will also love this too! And their beverages are truly too beautiful to consume yet it is really refreshing after a sunny day in Perlis. Thanks to @unicastana holidays for this beautiful rare find gem cafe that we will surely come back again! #TravelogueMalaysia #TravelogueMalaysiaPerlis #SadiahCafe #Perlis #unicastanaholidays #letstravelwithourunicstyle #food #cuticutimalaysia #makanlokal #cutisekolah #schoolholidayfun ♬ original sound - Sebrinah Yeo

BookXcess @ MyTOWN Shopping Centre

October 15, 2021 0

Have you heard about the latest BookXcess outlet in MyTOWN Shopping Centre? If you haven't then let me bring you through this beautiful place that will blow your mind away in an aesthetic kind of feel.

Firstly this is a place where it is a safe haven for everyone. You will be able to find a space or a corner that you can find comfort in. Entering the premises you will find the window display is truly a piece of art and how the flow of the structures and a cute Ronald McDonald character look-a-like is being displayed it truly a work of art. In fact, designers who were assigned to this space are given the challenge to be creative and design out-of-the box. Only when the design is complete then they fill it in with all the books and arts all over.

Secondly this place will somehow or rather encourage you to pick up atleast 1 book to take home with you. I picked up tons! Especially for my kids. And there's also stationaries too, which is the first bookstore in BookXcess chains to have stationaries available.

Thirdly, if your spouse dislikes books, just bring them over. They will eventually fall in love with one soon. The entire place is welcoming, warm and just zen to just hang out over a cuppa hot coffee or tea at the Piazza while you watch over your loved one roaming about looking for their favourite author or genres. And if you are an art lover then this is it.

There's an art passageway below the Piazza that takes you through the local arts showcased by local artists in Malaysia that you can bring them home with you.

I love how spacious the entire space is and how the floating bookshelves or towering bookshelves look as a whole. It is all properly labelled so that it is easy to locate your author at the designated book genres labelled on the shelves in text and color codes of Fiction and Non-Fiction. They also have island bookshelves and friendly bookshelves that is easily accessible for shorty like me. If you need a book that is too high up for you to reach, rest assured there is a step stool that you can access to or you can always ask a friendly customer service to assist you.

It is also a place to unleash your creativity where you can request for the music sheets at the counter to have a go at the piano. Sometimes when you need that lil spark to ignite an idea that's cooking in your head, then this is definitely a place you gotta be in.

Be careful of your steps though. Even though it is aesthetic as there are many pebbles and pathways, rest assured that BookXcess also put into thought of your safety and they have warning signages set up at places where you may turn a blind eye upon and use as a shortcut that may be dangerous for you. So always follow the path and always walk on the path, don't take shortcuts because there's no shortcuts in life.

Inside there's also Ume Tei, a japanese restaurant from its humble beginnings and it's been 25 years they've been around in Malaysia. From a lovely couple from japan, you will be delighted to enjoy authentic homecooked japanese meals here at this outlet as the chef is directly from Okinawa, Japan!

There's also a cafe inside the bookstore called Whisk cafe, where you get to enjoy a nice hot cuppa beverage with deliciously lip-smacking cakes to satisfy your sugar-cravings. It's located right next to the Piazza where it is another separate section inside the book store that is a co-working space that is open to anyone who wants to come and just gather, brainstorm some cool ideas or even a place to network. This is also a great place for your other half to wait at and eventually they may take a stroll around and pick up a book in their hands like my husband! (hahaha) It's the only BookXcess outlet with 2 outlets a cafe and a restaurant inside.

There's also these hand drawn mousey paintings below the pillars, so be sure to try and spot them and see how many you can spot them. I thought it was stickers but its completely hand drawn! That is truly creative and intriguing also to have them at random spots under the pillars. There's a space near the Ume Tei restaurant that actually has the Art Installations corner, where you will see collaboration with local artist showcasing their artworks, in this area it is the Tiang, there are 16 Tiang here that are each unique and represents the Fountain of Hope. And BookXcess wants to be a foundation to the art community as well.

If you notice a colorful elephant next to Ume Tei restaurant, don't be surprised but appreciate its uniqueness as it is painted and it is one of a kind, in support of the Elephant conservation. Changing the world one book at a time is the idea that BookXcess has for every one of their bookstores.

What I like is as you enter the outlet, you will see posters and pop arts that you can purchase them home and these are not like your ordinary posters that will wear and tear overtime. These posters are like high gloss canvas types where you can remove and install/hang them easily.

The pricing of the books are truly affordable as we also gotten a few books on hand during our visit here and they have a centralized cashier counter at the center which is not too hard to miss. Don't forget to sign up as a member if you haven't for additional discounts and rewards! I signed up for sure!

Another feature of this space that I love is the kids section. There's a cute bathtub that has the bathbooks in it where it shows that even kids can also have a fun and knowledgeable bath time too with these waterproof books! Who said bath must be boring! And the way the children section is created, is also for parents with prams/strollers that they can push along the ramps without troubles and even your toddler in the prams/strollers can also browse at the books along the way too because it is reachable even for the lil ones in their prams/strollers. Because reading is a good habit that starts from young. And if your child picks up a book and wants you to read it for them, no parent will say no to that for sure!

There's 13 bookstores all over Malaysia by BookXcess and all 13 are of different unique designs, if this space isn't to your liking then try another, there is ought to be one that will come to your liking for sure! And if they manage to make a non-reader become a reader, their goal is accomplished! Because kncwledge has power and BookXcess wants to create a community space for people to gather. Be a part of the whole experience to enjoy the environment. The aim is for Malaysians to be the next generation of readers. Many who comes over to BookXcess comes for a few reasons but most are for inspiration, motivation and some even escapism.

So visit a BookXcess outlet near you today because I'm sure that there will be one that you will surely be attached to like how we grown attached to this BookXcess outlet in MyTOWN Shopping Centre.

Sweet Pineapple Treat at Swee Bee

January 03, 2020 0
Growing up in my Chinese culture, Pineapple tarts is like a must for every Chinese New Year! It is the ultimate treat to have and the best to savour wherever you go for visiting! However nowadays there's too many out there, no one knows for sure which is the best?

I brought my son to visit Swee Bee by Baker Dave, to try their Pineapple tarts as they are homemade and a recipe made by Baker Dave's mother.

A cosy hidden cafe in Plaza Damas 3, that truly brings out a vibe of home sweet home with good comfort food and beverages.

Me and my son took many photos here because it just felt like a loving environment to be at. And their food variety are aplenty! Very generous in portion and all freshly made to order.

And because Chinese New Year is around the corner, they are already selling out on their Pineapple Tarts from their loyal customers over the years. We also had the privilege to try some taster and it was delish!

Sweet and sour pineapple tarts that has a mild buttery texture that makes the entire pineapple tart experience worth with every bite!

If you are still looking for last-minute shopping for good homemade Pineapple Tarts then better call them to check before you head over to shop for these. Because the packaging is so lovely that it just suit the occasion beautifully!
