Thad & Mik Lactation Cookie Review

July 12, 2021 0

I've tried many cookie's in my entire breastfeeding journey, especially the ones that promotes boosting breastmilk. And out of the many I've tried and reviewed before, this one was my favourite, because it was really yummy and chocolatey.

I love how it tastes and I don't taste too much of the other herby ingredients that some cookies has it very strongly. And it's not too dry and coarse like some who is super high in fibres.

It was just the nice blend in combination and the chocolate was really like a melt in your mouth type and it was chunky! If you love chunky chocolates you will love this for sure.

At first I was thinking, like all other cookies maybe this will take time to work too. But I didn't know that even after breastfeeding consistently for 7yrs in a row with several months break in between when I had shingles back in 2018 and now still breastfeeding my baby girl; I would still have the feeling of getting engorged!

And at first I thought maybe I was just excited and happy to try out something new that got me to feel boosted. However, I tried again 2 to 3 pieces of cookie and true enough, in just 24hours I felt somewhat fuller. In fact, it wasn't just me who enjoyed the cookies, my kids as well. My baby girl was the happiest, cookies and milk just for her. Breastfeeding for 7 years in a row and feeding on demand via direct latch helps to keep the flow going and also takes away the concept of, how many ounces you can produce because I believe the breastpump and milk bottle, cannot measure the amount of milk one can produce.

Only your mindset, your emotions/feelings and your baby can measure the amount of milk you have. I was always positive about breastfeeding and never listen in to naysayers or negativity, to the point even the cabbage couldn't stop me from lactating. Since then I knew our mind is a powerful tool! That with support from cookies like this helps. Also, because cabbage didn't work for me, when I was engorged, the only 2 things that has helped me this time around was my Lumispa and Cholestin! Because Cholestin supplement helps to reduce any blockages at the milk ducts and allows smoother flow in our bloodstream because one of the ingredients in it is Lecithin. As for Lumispa, it helps to gently massage and unblock milk ducts that is stuck, works much better and efficient than my knuckles or the back of the comb or warm bottle water.

Here's where to get some cookies to indulge in for leisure with your family or for your breastfeeding journey. Trust me, this works! And check out the other reviews on their Instagram channel too! Lotsa mummies attest to this!

ArtVenture with Sarah Playdough Review

May 12, 2021 0

I'm so excited to share with you about this! Seeing as we're all pretty much in at home for awhile now and for god knows how long more. With all the hustle and bustle out there, we definitely wanna keep our babies safe at home! But all those young-one energy that is just ready to burst and explode, because they can't go to school or they can't go to the mall or even to the park anymore! To be honest, I feel sad for my children because they don't know what fun they are gonna miss out on! That's why I have to up my game and bring fun indoors, prevention better than cure!

With so many business owners and entrepreneurs revamping their game-plan out there. One mommy, Ms Sarah who is a dedicated art tutor that works with little creative minds everyday, has also transitioned things online. And I gotta say, since MCO (Movement Control Order) happened in 2020 across Malaysia, I didn't think further and got some homemade playdough kits for my boys to be creative at home.

I am one mom who dislike messy playtimes, that's why I was on the fence on playdoughs and the thought of my child putting it into their mouth is horrifying. Nevertheless, I took my chances with ArtVenture with Sarah's Playdough kits because I know Sarah and her passion for art and with kids is beyond boundary! Therefore I trust my kids with her kits! (Cool! It rhymes hehe)

Just look at my kids having a go at the Space Play Dough! Who said space should be all alien looking and scary when it can be this cute!

And when it was time to explore the other side of the world, the Ocean Life Activity Kit, which took awhile for me to open this up because of my kids ever-changing interest. But even I had some fun with the playdough myself!

I love these because they are made with food grade ingredients, non-chemical nor toxic. Hence it is safe in general and naturally, I don't have to worry so much and age myself over such matters. So if you are looking for some kinda help to keep your sanity whilst keep your child entertained. Please for your own good health, get this for your children!

Sweet Pineapple Treat at Swee Bee

January 03, 2020 0
Growing up in my Chinese culture, Pineapple tarts is like a must for every Chinese New Year! It is the ultimate treat to have and the best to savour wherever you go for visiting! However nowadays there's too many out there, no one knows for sure which is the best?

I brought my son to visit Swee Bee by Baker Dave, to try their Pineapple tarts as they are homemade and a recipe made by Baker Dave's mother.

A cosy hidden cafe in Plaza Damas 3, that truly brings out a vibe of home sweet home with good comfort food and beverages.

Me and my son took many photos here because it just felt like a loving environment to be at. And their food variety are aplenty! Very generous in portion and all freshly made to order.

And because Chinese New Year is around the corner, they are already selling out on their Pineapple Tarts from their loyal customers over the years. We also had the privilege to try some taster and it was delish!

Sweet and sour pineapple tarts that has a mild buttery texture that makes the entire pineapple tart experience worth with every bite!

If you are still looking for last-minute shopping for good homemade Pineapple Tarts then better call them to check before you head over to shop for these. Because the packaging is so lovely that it just suit the occasion beautifully!

Anggun Chef @ MITEC, KL

March 17, 2019 0
If you're a food lover like me, always searching for the best delicious food in town, then join me today as I share with you this newfound rare find gem inside MITEC, KL, Anggun Chef !

It's name is uniquely Malaysian and being a Malaysian myself, the word "Anggun" in bahasa melayu translates as "Elegance". A cosy cafe located right in between the Main lobby and South Entrance, situated just infront before Hall 4 entrance in MITEC building itself; has a really cool and chic menu that has a variety of food and beverages for your choosing.

Anggun Chef began in 2012 as a semi fine-dining cafe in Plaza Damas 3 and after 2 years, they ventured into expanding their business with their products and just last year 2018, Anggun Chef entered MITEC, KL during the SEA Games season and there were actually located outdoors instead. In a short 2 to 3 months after several International events held in MITEC KL, they were relocated to be situated permanently inside MITEC. This was also because they had their own unique roasted coffee beans and their local homemade fusion flavours that truly represents our Asian flavours to the wide array of customers during various International events held in MITEC, KL.

Anggung Chef consists of a variety of product such as the ready-to-eat sauces, there's also Teh Tarik & Honey Lemon Tea in sachets where you can buy back home and DIY or gift as a souvenir;

Including their Anggun Chef cafe that also offers catering and barista services.

The Chicken Parmigiana (RM15) that is chicken chop coated with tomato paste and cheese served with fries.

Deep fried Chicken Chop & Black Pepper Sauce (RM16) that is crispy on the outside and juicy fresh on the inside. The meat is properly tenderize and marinated.

Nasi minyak is really fragrant and the curry isn't too spicy at all, it's tasty when eaten with the rice together and it tastes freshly cooked. Their rice goes by the days, so each day they have a different serving for their rice meals on the menu. Today was Friday so the Nasi Minyak is available on Fridays.

Their own signature dish is the Asam Pedas Lamb Grill, it's really tasty and the Asam Pedas definitely covers whatever gamey taste that some people are afraid of when eating Lamb. This dish doesn't have much of the gamey taste though but the meat is definitely perfectly grilled and the asam pedas sauce truly makes this dish unique on its own! For me it's spicy but acceptable, but maybe for those who loves spicy food, it may be just right and not too spicy for you. But you can definitely taste the Asam Pedas for sure because their Asam Pedas sauce is homemade by them and it's their signature ready-made sauce where you can also get off their shelves too. They did not use one of the main ingredient most Asam Pedas sauce requires, they have their own secret recipe which makes this sauce unique!

Chilli Clam Spaghetti was really unique, like having seafood spaghetti. I love its tasty sweet and spicy flavours.

Rendang Peanut Butter Chicken Patty (RM15), is a beautiful blend of local Asian mix western fusion! Definitely must try! Their patty are also homemade-from-scratch!

A vegetarian dish that was just introduced into their menu 2 months ago is the Ciabatta : Fresh Veggie Sandwich with Pesto Sauce (RM15). This was also in-conjunction with special requests made but various customers during past events on indulging in vegetarian meals. Hence the introduction of these vegetarian varieties for their customers.

Their dessert is really mouthwatering! Baked fruit cake topped with ice cream and caramel. The perfect match made in heaven! Their fruit cake is also really generous in the fruits inside, its fruit size is also quite volumptious, chunky at each bite!

Anggun Chef also has a barista service where you can get your freshly brewed coffee beans that is originated from France, a custom house-made brand. It's roasting level is of dark roast because dark roast is of less acidity and has a smooth finishing that won't taste too bitter as well. Even the coffee beans used are of a lower acidity. This is why some customers don't fancy a sourish taste in their coffee, that is also why, when customers indulge in a cup of coffee here, they will be able to enjoy a smooth cup of coffee here because of the low acidity in their coffee beans and the method of roasting.

I actually had second rounds of their Strawberry Fizz Soda (RM12)! A real thirst-quencher especially in our Malaysia hot and humid weather!

However, please note that there's no more plastic straws allowed in town anymore; As everywhere else is practising the use of plastic-wares, you can bring your own stainless steel straws over or you can also get them at Anggun Chef that comes with a cute straw brush cleaner and a bag for RM8.

Somewhere in July or August they will be relocating nearer to South Entrance in MITEC KL to their very own restaurant cafe that is still in renovation.

Meantime I'd highly recommend you to drop by this humble cafe and enjoy a good homemade meal here that is sure to make you crave for more!

The Gift of Nature with Pandan Extract

February 08, 2019 1
Sometimes I come across posts that has people asking what's the best gift to give to someone who is visiting Malaysia. There were many answers and most of it suggests souvenirs, handcrafted or embedded with our countries proud landmarks. Some even suggest to take the extra mile and get food and snacks and even give tips how to sneak them onboard without getting tracked down (especially Durian - but it's impossible unless it's Durian Dodol sweet).

However, I would say, the best is to take them to enjoy the food in Malaysia. But they can't takeaway our food back home to their country though; So how?

I recently stumbled upon this brand by Bio Nutricia Extract on it's local and naturally made products here in Malaysia and would love to share about it today.

I got myself some Pandan Leaf Extract just to see if they claim what they say it is. True enough, I was sold at the moment I received my package; I was excited to use it that I googled up recipes to make pandan delicacies with this.

Being a true Asian, we love Pandan flavoured food, snacks, beverages and desserts! I can name a few of my favourite such as the Pandan Jelly Layer Cake, Pandan Chiffon Cake, Nasi Kukus Pandan, Pandan Sticky Rice, Pandan Pancakes, Pandan Muffins, Pandan Kaya, Pandan & Lemongrass drink (this is a Thai detox tea!) and so much more!

I love how it smells so aromatically fragrant. It's unlike the other Pandan extract you regularly find over-the-shelf. This one you can really smell and taste its pure natural flavour of the fresh Pandan extract. I like how it is sodium-free and non-GMO as it is locally grown and harvested from Malaysia itself. It's beautiful green color is not artificial colouring but of its own natural Chlorophyll color. It's also high in anti-oxidants, it's cooling and relieves body heat as it is a soothing and a known alkaline beverage to consume that is healthy for everyone, even vegetarians can consume this! It even consists of natural Phytonutrient as it is grown and harvested in a preserved nature without any chemicals involved at all!

A very detailed process that has been used in extracting this precious rare find gem. Most importantly, it tastes and smells like fresh pandan extract with no chemical substances or placebo effects in the process. All you get out of using this Pandan Leaf Extract is 100% pure pandan benefit!

I made some muffins with this Pandan Extract and also Sticky Rice to be indulged with my Hainan Gula Melaka syrup and a cooling Pandan with Lemongrass beverage to cool down the body on a hot sunny day in Malaysia everyday! Enjoy the recipe and process below :

Pandan Sticky Rice Recipe from Runaway Rice.com

From the recipe below, I swapped my toppings with Hainan Gula Melaka syrup instead. It tastes lovely after chilled! Like a sweet dessert on a hot day. I had to do a new batch because my kids finished it before I could snap pictures! Will upload them on my Instagram so stay tuned~!

Lemongrass Pandan Tea Recipe

2. Add lemongrass stalk into the water
3. Shake the Pandan Leaf Extract and then add 3 teaspoons of Pandan liquid into the boiling water

Direction of Use for Beverage:

Measure 2 teaspoons in 250mL of hot water (to release encapsulated aroma), stir & brew for 1 minute before serving. Alternatively, can add to honey, syrup, soy, milk, coffee, latte, smoothies, coco, oat/cereal, dessert & soup.

Dosage: 2%-4%

• 1 Tablespoon (10g) • 1 Teaspoon (4g)

Storage: Once open store in a refrigerator.

Precaution: Shake well before use. Avoid sour bitter mixture. Only blend well & enhance with sweetness.

Additional tips to use the Pandan Leaf Extract by Bio Nutricia Extract :

Pandan Latte
Any type of milk will work. You can warm and foam it and a bit of honey will sweeten it if you like. Drink it hot or pour it over ice for a summer treat. Add it to your smoothie or desserts. Just 1 to 2 teaspoons should do the trick. You can just sprinkle on the top or can mix it up. The liquid will not affect the taste because it is tasteless.

I'd also have to mention that through looking up info into this, I found out why it actually smells so good after heating it up. Apparently, this Pandan Leaf Extract is made with encapsulated technology to preserve the pandan natural flavour and colour, hence a natural aroma will be released once it's heated up.
