Sadiah Cafe at Perlis

February 13, 2023 0

If you ever visit Perlis, please make time to visit Sadiah Cafe. If not, you probably never came to Perlis. This place is a very family-friendly cafe that you can enjoy local favourites right smack in the center of the paddy field! It is very aesthetic and healing just being here; especially when the cool breeze brushes unto your skin, you can just enjoy fresh air with no pollution here.

The view here is truly a magical place to be. The mountain view and the clear blue sky. You can literally watch the clouds move here and it is just so calming and peaceful throughout. In fact, my husband said this is a runner's track, many people has come here to jog around the paddy fields and mountain and the view is just wondrous which I will share in my post of "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation".

What you see here above is an aerial view when you dine-in at Sadiah Cafe rooftop. We had our dinner here and it was the best choice ever, in fact if you come here at the right timing, in the morning you can watch the sunrise and in the evening the sunset as well!

When I said this was family-friendly I weren't joking. Downstairs is the kids corner where they can draw and play in this little room inside. So if you have little kids, don't worry, they will have the bestest time of their life over here! So thoughtful of the owner for such initiative!

Their western platter is super generous in portion and is huge! I love western food and I must say that they really serve good western food here that you gotta experience it. The meat were crispy juicy and tender at the same time, the spaghetti sauce was just appetizing, and even the lamb also not hard to chew on. Your elderly parents also will totally approve of this dish!

I just had to take selfie shots, it's so beautiful, this swing decorated with the floral and the background is not a backdrop but it's a real background that is just worth spending time selfie and wefie all the way here.

I got to enjoy the local delicacy here the "Urap Jagung" that is really a new dish I have never heard of, or rarely heard of. And it was lovely! In fact I was actually seated in the middle of the paddy field when I took this shot.

Would you just admire this shot for a few minutes. This is like shellout in your face! But the portion is so so generous! I don't even need to topup for more because it's so huge, the servings are super fresh and to my greatest pleasure, it was not as spicy as I feared it would be! I would ask for extra rice if I were still 82kg back then, but I couldn't finish now even though I wanted so badly to. But we did "tapao" take away the leftover! So nice la! Definitely must come here and eat this dish especially for dinner!

And their drinks truly match the skies and earth. All of different flavours and combinations and each one also sedap, tasty, delicious. Whichever you pick it will be a sure win flavour! And we will definitely be back again!

And there you go, we came back again for the harumanis season and stayed at "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation"

We wanted to have breakfast at Sadiah Cafe because it was just RM2 per pax buffet style! However, it was almost sold out by 8am, there was an event and there were lots of people there for teambuilding activities so we missed it. Nevertheless we still packed to go breakfast from Sadiah to enjoy it at their "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Staycation" which we chose to have a nice breakfast at the rooftop of "Rumah Sadiah".

Breakfast here was really exciting because one minute it was sunny and the next, you can see the dark clouds carrying the rain across from the mountains moving towards the paddy field.

Nice view, nice local favourite breakfast "Nasi not-so-lemak", that's what I call it because it's not oily le, means good la, healthier than the Nasi Lemak we eat at KL. But it is tasty! Pedas/Spicy also. Got kick!

We are enjoyed our pulut with Harumanis mango here. It was truly a delicacy that you should not miss! And my favourite Urap Jagung that my kids also loved it so much!
@sebrinahyeo The best mango ever! Harumanis Perlis from @Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa Super juicy, meaty, sweet and succulent! Makes you ask for more! This is why we came back here again because I know they wont disappoint! #traveloguemalaysia #perlis #mangga #mangoperlis #harumanis ♬ original sound - Sebrinah Yeo

Just the view itself also amazing! I don't know which is more beautiful, the view, the sky, the environment, the food, maybe it's all of it combined. This picture is worth a million hearts in my memories!

The "Urap Jagung" from Sadiah cafe is must must must have. I specially requested for it because my kids truly enjoyed every bit of it. Afterall, mommy's favourite is also their favourite.

And I must say, this dish is pretty new to me. It's eaten like this, mix the Harumanis mango with the urap jagung on the pancake. Very tasty le! I never had such combination before but even hot wraps should check out this combination.

How could I not order Harumanis before heading back le?! Straight from "Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa".

I helped my friend to also order 3kg of it! She loved it so much! It was really tasty and thanks to thiss I can differentiate the real Harumanis versus the Thailand ones. Some actually bring Thailand ones in and call it Harumanis back here in KL but actually it is not and they overpriced it like crazy!! I only paid RM100 for a box of 3kg of Harumanis from Perlis.

I love how the flavours blend together and everything here is in-house homemade, it's a family business that is surely worth mentioning.

Now who wouldn't love Sadiah Cafe and the food and beverage that they offer! If I stayed here, this will probably be my regular hangout.

@sebrinahyeo Makanlah! Tunggu apa lagi! After feeding my iPhone first baru I feed my tummy at @SadiahCafe in Perlis with @TravelogueMalaysia The meals prepared here are truly generous and delicious! It was my first time experiencing this Urap Jagung (Jagung Kelapa), their Mix Grill is really appetising and generous in portions. And their shell out is seriously way tastier! For someone like me who can’t handle spicy food, this shell out was just nice, not too spicy and not too bland! Means spicy lovers will also love this too! And their beverages are truly too beautiful to consume yet it is really refreshing after a sunny day in Perlis. Thanks to @unicastana holidays for this beautiful rare find gem cafe that we will surely come back again! #TravelogueMalaysia #TravelogueMalaysiaPerlis #SadiahCafe #Perlis #unicastanaholidays #letstravelwithourunicstyle #food #cuticutimalaysia #makanlokal #cutisekolah #schoolholidayfun ♬ original sound - Sebrinah Yeo

LuLu Hypermarket Grand Opening at 1Shamelin Mall

July 04, 2019 0
Today 1st July is the beginning of the second half for 2019. Also a new beginning for LuLu Hypermarket as they celebrate and launch their 2nd branch in Malaysia and 174th branch in the world; Grand Opening at 1Shamelin Mall, Cheras! LuLu Hypermarket is one of the largest retail operators in the Middle East & North African (MENA) regions.

It was crowded and the parking was full! The whole area surrounding 1Shamelin Mall was jam-packed bumper-to-bumper the whole day! Basically everyone is trying to get into LuLu Hypermarket to grab the best deals during their opening that is happening from now 1st July till 4th July 2019.

I was lucky that I was able to find a parking spot at the basement. However, after entering the premises I decided to just check out what's available and maneuver my way in the hypermarket at Ground floor through the sea of crowd!

It was definitely something you don't see everyday. Whenever there's a crazy sale going on for half the price people will just grab as much as they can! If my husband was here, I would've grabbed as much as I could too. But I have my limitations as I was pregnant and there were no more trolleys available!!

I love how everything is arranged properly and how well lit it was inside. They have clear sign boards of product types that makes it easier for you to find the items that you want. Even the variety of products available is an abundance! The sprawling 80,000 sqft hypermarket designed with the latest retail space concept and modern technology that has dedicated sections categorised properly for your shopping ease!

The best part is the store is designed to have an exclusive store-in-store for all "free from" food range that offers an extensive line of Gluten-free, Organic, Sugar free, no additives, no preservatives and other special food from around the world! Even their hot food was a hit! And I really love how fresh their fresh seafood were displayed decoratively and very neatly!

That's not all! At the launch today, I couldn't be more excited to know that they are committed to launching another four (4) more new hypermarkets by end of 2020 in Setia City Mall, Bangi Gateway, Bachang (Malacca) and Johor Bahru. They are even exploring other markets in Malaysia as they are committed to creating 5,000 job opportunity for Malaysians. They currently employs over 300 Malaysians in their two (2) hypermarkets. But the crowd today surely exceeded the amount of staffs on floor, I mean just look at the crazy offers available at almost 50% off and all these happy shoppers grabbing them home for their household.

The one thing that really stood out when I entered the hypermarket was the dedicated SME display area that was specially designed to support local small & medium enterprises to grow their businesses to Gulf countries.

A really good initiative to really help these local SME businesses have a chance as well in the industry and there's already more than 100 local companies associated with LuLu Hypermarket. There were sampling booths setup that we can sample and eventually make our purchase as well at LuLu Hypermarket!

As one of the top 50 fastest growing retailers globally, it is no wonder that the crowd today came earlier than the opening hours and queued at the entrance to grab their groceries and the special offers on ground! There was practically no trolley left available when I was there. And I heard the queue to payment took atleast more than 1 hour plus, every payment counter has a crazy loooooong queue! And mind you, there's 2 exit here with more than 10 over counters (maybe more) each and all fully queued until the center of the shopping floor!

So do drop by to grab these crazy offers from 1st to 4th July 2019! I am considering to head back again to try my luck! Will update here on my loots from LuLu Hypermarket! Stay tuned!

Makan The Best Malaysia Nasi Lemak Bamboo

December 03, 2018 2
Am sure most of you have heard about the latest craze over Nasi Lemak Bamboo in Malaysia, but where to find the best?! We have heard of many version, locations and so on. Some even use this as a marketing gimmick by serving Nasi Lemak in a Bamboo!

Why Bamboo?
Because at the thought of Bamboo, is that it is unique and fragrant!

But do you know, there are some places who pre-made their Nasi Lemak in advance and just dump it in a Bamboo prior to serving customers? Some even lay it out on half a bamboo shell and serve it to customers. But it's not really cooked inside the Bamboo.

You get to see them prepare the Nasi Lemak Bamboo right at their entrance
Over here at Azfar Maju Corner in Kepong, you will get to enjoy the real Nasi Lemak Bamboo, because it does as it says, Nasi Lemak with Rendang Ayam Kampung homemade from scratch, steamed in the Bamboo for 40 minutes!

The process?
30 minutes of cooking the rice in each Bamboo will be done beforehand (to avoid customer waiting too long for 1 Nasi Lemak kan...), they will do 10 to 15 at a time and keep adding once it's about to sold out throughout the day to avoid wastage of leftovers.

When you order the Nasi Lemak Bamboo, you wait 10 to 15 minutes for them to cook the rice for another 10 minutes and then added in with their delicious Rendang Ayam Kampung.

The rendang (cooked 2 to 3 hours with their homemade fried coconut paste aka kerisik) is truly delicious their Rendang Ayam Kampung has a slight tinge of "kick" in its spices but it wasn't too overwhelming and the spicyness is tolerable. Safe to say even your kids can handle it, and if you love spicyness then this rendang will taste fragrant with a good mix of spice for you, it won't taste bland.

After that, the Sambal goes in with it's other condiments where you usually find in a Nasi Lemak dish in Malaysia. The crunchy cucumber that is soaked in ice first, the roasted nuts and ikan bilis (aka anchovies).

I must highlight that I am not a fan of SAMBAL because I have really sensitive tastebud (like a baby), so when it's not spicy to me, it will never be spicy to those who can tolerate and love spicy food. But this SAMBAL right here was a little spicy for me, because it made me sweat a little and had a little runny nose but it was tolerable! My friends love it and had an extra plate of sambal servings for their Nasi Lemak Bamboo.

And as mention, their food here including the sambal and the rendang are all made from scratch, not premix paste etc.

Am sure you're wondering now, why is the Nasi Lemak rice is GREEN in colour?
That's because, for their customers to enjoy the true fragrance of a Nasi Lemak dish cooked inside the Bamboo, pandan leaves is a MUST while cooking the rice, but if the rice is in the Bamboo, the pandan fragrance may not seap into the rice as much as the normal Nasi Lemak dish. So the owner actually extracts the pandan juice out from pandan leaves and add into the Nasi Lemak rice, hence it is green in colour! It's also cooked with halia/ginger for added fragrance and incase you don't know, halia/ginger helps dispel wind.

But the fragrant pandan of the Nasi Lemak when it is served out piping hot fresh from the Bamboo is truly a ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience you will NEVER find anywhere else in Malaysia!

Also, it is recommend to eat-in because if you order-to-go, the fragrance will disperse after awhile, it's only best served fresh. However, they did have customers ordering from them for catering and they wrap it in pandan leaves to try to keep the fragrance intact, but still it is different from eating at the outlet.

So if you'd like to come over and get your hands on some Nasi Lemak Bamboo at RM12.90

Healthy & Yummy Food for Lil One by Afyat Malaysia

May 01, 2018 7
As a parent, we always strive to provide the best for our children! That includes everything from birth onwards even until adulthood! A parents love never ends, it is a neverending journey. There's just so much love to go around; May it be 1 child, 2, 3, 4, 5 or no matter how many children you have, deep in every parents heart there's so much room and love to go around!

That being said, when a child reaches 6 months old, especially for a new parent, the biggest phase that all family goes through is "Solid" food feeding! What to feed? When to feed? How to feed? So many questions, even Google search has so many answers but which one is really "the one" that will ease the journey for both parent and baby through the solid food journey?

So today, allow me to introduce "Afyat - Food for Tots". It's a mix of deliciously 100% pure homemade healthy fruits & veggie baby puree!

Puree???
Yes, Puree! I know many of you are thinking that it won't taste good or probably thinking you can easily make it on your own.

Well most of you are true. Commercialized brands available at your local supermarket doesn't taste good. It doesn't taste real at all! More synthetic than the real thing! And it can last long because of added preservatives or additives! I'm sure you wouldn't wanna feed your child chemicals or processed food at such a young age?!

What about DIY your own Puree?
Can be done BUT it ain't easy nor affordable. If you have the time then go ahead but remember to look after your child while making because at 6mths old, the milestones that they will achieve is unimaginable! Some will start crawling or turning over their tummy!! Lots of fun play times with them so it's not easy to have time to make your own Puree too. You'll end up having loads of excess Puree that doesn't taste too yummy for you that you have to freeze and refreeze for baby consumption daily.

So think about it. What if there was an easier alternative that's healthier and convenient but tastes great to be eaten on its own or mixed with yogurt etc?

Afyat Food for Tots, started back in 2014. It took them a year to improvise the formulation and they now have a variety of flavours and more to come! The chefs behind this product, ensures that this is 100% vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Non-Dairy, made from scratch with fresh fibrous fruit and vegetables, NO preservatives or additives (tiada bahan pengawet!

When you buy Online, it's GST-free and it comes in a sleeve of 5 bottles of healthy and delicious mix of fruits & veggie puree that is made fresh 100% homemade and delivered frozen to you.

Price : RM35 nett (RM7 each)

You can choose from the 5 flavours available :
1) Dates & Pear
2) Pomegranate, Dates, Beetroot
3) Apple, Pear, Wolfberry
4) Avocado & Banana
5) Carrot & Apple

Offline purchase is RM7* a bottle - Applicable for walk-in retail outlets/bazaars/pop-up kiosks/stalls only. For the quality and choices available, it is a very reasonable, affordable and healthy choice for everyone! (*If you get it online it's GST free, offline there's a GST charge)

Lifespan :
New unopened can keep 5 months frozen in freezer.
Keep refrigerated once open and finish within 3 days.

The 5 types of fruits & veggie puree available are :

1. Dates & Pear

My mom's favourite! Refreshing, naturally sweet and tasty!

2. Apple, Pear, Wolfberry

This is really tasty and the mixed blend is just perfect! Great for introducing new flavours to your child! No sugar added!

3. Avocado, Banana

❥Banana is good for constipation
❥Avocado is an amazing first solid food for every baby! Too many benefits on Avocado!
OMG! The BEST! My All-Time Favourite! Savoury sweet that is mild and appetizing at the same time. Makes you wanting for more!

4. Pomegranate, Beetroots, Dates

A lil word of caution, Beetroot & Pomegranate are both originally red in color, hence why this puree is red color. Rest assured there's added colouring! It's from these 2 ingredients! So be prepared for some red stains but it's fun altogether! My youngest helped to color my sofa cover with this 😂 (Luckily it's just the cover 😅)

5. Carrot, Apple

Carrots are great for the eyes (reeeeaalllyy lah, tak tipuuu!). This is orange in colour and its natural from the Carrot (incase you didn't know). The taste is of fresh carrots and apples. Your kids will never know that there's veggie in here!

My verdict : All the variants tastes great! I even help to finish whatever leftovers (which I don't usually do with Puree)! I never eat puree because it's not to my liking but these are just perfect! You can even mix and eat it with yogurts, if it's frozen it can be eaten like ice cream or make them like popsicles! You can also warm it up before feeding your child.

A great comfort food suitable anytime, anyday! If your child is unwell, you can also feed them these because it's non-dairy. It's not too sweet, for me it's just nice with it's natural sweetness.
