Big Bad Wolf November 2021 @ HERO Market Puchong

November 18, 2021 0

Yes! Big Bad Wolf Sales is back! Best time to shop for loads of books for yourself and your loved ones because Christmas is near! And this time Big Bad Wolf Sales is held from 15th to 28th November 2021 at the latest and newest Hero Market at Bandar Puteri, Puchong in Malaysia.

I love this place because of its ample parking space and seamless experience through the parking and the mall that makes shopping a breeze! My son was super delighted to come here. I actually came two times and brought each of my son separately because I spent a Daniel's day and Jayden's day at Big Bad Wolf!

I told them beforehand that this day is just gonna be the two of us and is for us to bond and communicate and for me to also get to know them better and just spend these precious moments with them. Making them feel that they are equally important. This is important for parenting especially if you have more than 1 child in the house.

So the first day I was with Daniel and he was super happy to have one whole day with me out. As parents, leading by example is important, that's why I pick Big Bad Wolf Books Sale rather than playgrounds or play areas because books can be a magical place for a child to widen their horizon and knowledge further and beyond anyone's imagination! This exposure is crucial to start from young. And I definitely want my child to have a habit of reading from a young age.

We had loads of selfie and wefie and I took a video of him throughout the entire hall on Level 1. For both my sons. And I noticed two of them are very different in their decision making, their preferences and even the way they react and respond to different situations. I definitely gotten to know them better and even found a similarity in their preferences as they both chose the same book that they both like and feel like their brother will like it too. I was a proud parent at Big Bad Wolf because I was able to see my children inhibit really good values that I have always been wanting them to have, like sharing, looking out for another, considerate, make decisions, persistency, consistency and understanding.

My eldest is a more loving brother and he really acts like one as he will always have his younger brother and sister on his mind. It was never always about him and he leaves no one behind, this is the beauty of my eldest boy. He is also understanding and takes instructions by heart, he is also cheeky and playful but in a super cuddly way. Daniel will persist to look for what he already set his mind on and will consistently look for it, we couldn't find any Transformers related books here but he was willing to accept an alternative that is similar to it like Superheroes doodle book, so that he can draw the superhero and robots out. A balance of logic and creative. He buys only what he is looking for and spend within his means. He actually brought RM25 from his piggy bank when he heard I was taking him to Big Bad Wolf to shop for books.

My 2nd boy is more creative, sometimes over creative but that's where these books at Big Bad Wolf plays a huge part. He took RM30 from his piggy bank and honestly, he didn't have any restrictions or limits. He sees whatever he likes and attempts to just put it in the bag first. If I weren't there, he definitely won't be able to pay for whatever he wants. He has a huge abundance thinking for sure. He really believes, mommy grows money on trees and it's true, I won't deny that. However, he shops for all the books that he will enjoy, his little sister will enjoy and even his big brother Daniel will enjoy too. So I'm definitely happy that my son's, both of them are not selfish. But this boy is easily swayed, yet he won't give up either. He is two handful but a charming young boy!

So we bought lotsa books for sure. Along the way I was able to spend precious moments with my children and also I was able to know them better. In return, I was also able to teach them the values of picking up a book and also the spending methods that they should know of. I told them that if you want to earn, you need to have the power of knowledge as mommy already have the business platform laid out for them, they only have to grow in their knowledge and that is the first step through picking up a book to read and participate.

I went during the weekdays because it was lesser crowd but I would say the space is spacious enough and not jam-packed, rest assured all SOP is in place if not, I wouldn't even dare bring my kids along. But it was 2 days worth spent at Big Bad Wolf. If you are a parent like me with kids, I encourage you to plan your trip with them over here, it'll be worth it.

So head over before it ends!

Wine & Dine with Beringer Winederlust with Levy Li

November 14, 2018 0
Tonight was a luxurious event where I was able to experience dining with the very beautiful, inspiring and talented Levy Li. Whom, she shared her travels tips with us tonight as we dine in winederlust with Beringer Vineyard.

When I first arrived at 6th Senses Gastrobar, it was a breathtaking sight as I have never ventured to this venue before and was amazed at it's interior decor that truly brings about the exquisite and exclusivity of dining with the finest quality of food and wine.

Whilst awaiting for the other guests to arrive, I couldn't help but snap a few selfie moments in this beautiful venue. We were served with a cooling cucumber lemonade and lime drink that was really refreshing and thirst-quenching.

Shortly after waiting for awhile (because I went there too early-was too excited lah), the event started with the very beautiful and talented host Levy Li who is also a mother herself and an entrepreneur; who sat right infront of me at my table! It was truly an honour to dine and wine together with this inspiring lady.

She started off with introducing herself and sharing some travel tips that we can learn and even plan for in the near future for our ownself and for our family. Bangkok was the main attraction that she highlighted today and it was just in time because I miss Bangkok so much! I would love to go there again but this time with my family!

Levy's travelling experience is one that's envious as she's explored everything from the monuments of Florence, Italy; meeting K-pop stars in Seoul, Korea; yet there is nothing that she loves more than travelling to the beautiful city of Bangkok, Thailand.

After her first session of sharing, we were presented with the first dish of the day that is the appetizer that is to be paired with the Beringer wine.

Lemon Coriander Vinaigrette Prawn Salad
This is made with greens salad, cherry tomatoes drizzle, lemon coriander vinaigrette, grilled prawns with Beringer Founders' Estate Sauvignon Blanc

It was really light and easy to munch on to prepare my tummy for the main meal, when pair with the white wine, it brings out a unique flavour and makes this dish more appealing. The wine itself has a refreshing grapefruit flavor enhanced with an intense citrus, ripe stone fruit and white fig. The win finishes with a clean grassy note and crisp acidity making it a perfect match for citrus salad, grilled fish or even goat cheese. With one sip, it really has that citrus type of zesty taste to its texture and it's fragrance.

Cream of Chicken Soup
Homemade chicken broth with light cream and served with chicken, potatoes, carrots, toast with Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay. The soup is really flavorful and fragrant.

When paired with the white wine of the Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay, it brings a stronger citrus and fruity aroma, while it leads to a more medium, rounded mouthfeel highlighted with flavors of lemon creme, toasted almonds and balanced acidity. In layman terms, it is is medium to strong and the taste linger in your mouth. It's slightly richer than the first wine.

Slow Braised Pork Belly
Slow braised pork belly with herbs, pumpkin puree, mushroom ragout, roasted cauliflower head, apple chips, pistachio nuts with Beringer Founders' Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. I just had to pick this main dish for myself because I've always wanted to know how it's like to pair pork belly with wine! And it was the best choice I would say. Because of the meaty texture and it is slow braised with sweet sauce marination, it matches very well with the Beringer Founders' Estate Cabernet Sauvignon red wine.

The wine brings about a flavour of rich red fruit characteristics, enriched with toasted oak and spice from aging on French oak. It has that really fragrant scent that doesn't sting your nose but it smooth at the same time and very appealing. At a sip it is sweet and then it changes texture to a fruity rich flavour that lingers in your mouth and on your tongue. I love this the most and pairing it with meat was really a unique experience altogether.

Chocolate Brownies
We were then served with a nice warm chocolate brownie with ice cream, salted caramel and crumbles. I paired this with each of the wine that was served earlier and it matched really well with either of it.

My favourite?
Actually all 3 has its own unique characteristics and pairing to match the flavours with. However, I love the Beringer Founders' Estate Sauvignon Blanc for it's mild citrus flavour where I can see myself enjoying it on its own at the comfort of my own home at my own "ME" time.

The wine tasting session today gave about a good experience for me being exposed to this exotic and exquisite luxurious world of wine pairing with good food and strangers who becomes your friend at the end of the day no matter where they came from.

We had a good evening asking questions and breaking the ice with each other on the topic of travelling; And lets not forget, Levy Li's valuable tips on planning a trip to Bangkok!

Kentang Charity Fun Run For A Worthy Cause!

November 08, 2018 0
Am sure many Malaysians such as you and me would have heard of the founder of our local Community Policing Association of Malaysia (COPs), Mr. Kuan Chee Heng. A noble man who has dedicated his time and energy into helping the needy citizens of Malaysia. His effort through COPs is notably well known across the nation and he has personally help many people who are forever grateful and thankful to him.

I have heard stories about him, read about him in the news and even follow him on Facebook because he is truly an inspiring individual that knows no boundaries to a generous and giving heart. He has came a long way since into providing services to ease the burdens of the needy such as the 10 cent Flea Market, 10 cent Taxi, 10 cent Ambulance service and most recently the 10 cent library. Mr Kuan has been raising funds and awareness on the plight of the needy for years and he has been looking for more ways to get more members of the community to engage in his effort.

This coming December, it will be a remarkable and notable event that Mr. Kuan alongside with IOI Mall and Mamee, will be organizing a Kentang Charity Fun Run 2018, where everyone of you will have the opportunity to help raise much-needed funds for the purchase of :

Target : Raise RM350,000 >

To acquire the following :

- 2 Funeral Van (Van Jenazah)

- 2 Ambulance

- 1 Super Coach Bus

It's a good opportunity for parents to teach their kids and instil in them a sense of
community. This Kentang Charity Fun Run 2018 is a healthy and fun activity with the addition of the awareness and the funds raised will go towards helping the needy makes this activity extra meaningful; as highlighted by Mr Kuan. I'd have to agree with him because many fun run nowadays promotes a healthy lifestyle together as a community but the Kentang Charity Fun Run brings about a new meaning to the participants and the end results which are the needy who will be on the receiving in the end.

And whatever balance collected from this Charity run will be used in their on-going efforts to service the needy. Because just like today's event, Mr. Kuan shared this morning, a young boy called him seeking for help as his father just passed away and he only has RM10 left in his wallet. He has no funds to send his late dad's body back to Seremban. So this are the cases that Mr Kuan receives daily, even there was one incident where the wife was about to give birth in Banting and the husband who was on the way over, got into an accident and passed away on the way to see his wife. Left his wife stranded there with a newborn and a funeral to manage and she had no funds to help her to settle all of this and also funds for her to head back home to East Coast. Hearing these stories, I am sure that if you were in Mr Kuan's shoes what would you do?

Fusion Music Studio, Puchong Malaysia

October 16, 2018 0
Is your child an artist or a music prodigy? Or is he/she showing signs of interest in these creative arts of wonders?

"Every child is born creative. The challenge is to keep that creativity alive!"
-Picasso

And this is a true fact that every child from newborn, they are given sensory toys to play and learn new sounds, colors, textures etc. In fact, when your baby is in your womb, many will encourage the mother to talk and sing to their baby. So it's a known fact that babies are exposed to sound and music from the beginning of life.

That being said, my son loves to play piano especially the toys that I bought for him! However, he loves taking them apart also like an engineer. But when a music is on the TV he will ask me to dance with him and he is only 4 years old. So I've decided to enroll him for a day in arts class and a day in music class at Fusion Music Studio in Taman Tasik Prima, Puchong.

Teachers here are properly trained with many years and passion in this industry.
It was a good experience for us because it has been many years since I've been to a music studio. I used to learn piano, until Grade 2 I stopped because the teacher that taught me for Grade 2 was horrible! A teacher plays an important role to cultivate good learning culture amongst students.

Fusion Music Studio has different classes and sessions for students of different age groups. And their teacher and also principal are well-trained and very friendly when dealing with these kids.

I had the opportunity to experience the music class for both of my kids (2 yrs old and 4yrs old). It's a separately class for both of them. The younger one is with a parent together in the room where they learn the different tunes and instruments and have circle time together. This is the Orffie Friends Explorer for age 18months to 3 years.

As for eldest, he joined the Orffie Friends Scholar for toddlers age 3 to 4 years where they are exposed to sensory play guided by the teacher (without the parents). The teacher will guide the kids to recognize the notes and tune while they get to practise basic music notes and piano lessons 1 key at a time. Towards the end of the classroom, the parent of each child will take turns to go in to watch their child perform the tune called out by the teacher on the keyboard, it's to show how their child is progressing at every class.

However, depending on your child's skill and learning pace, the teachers are trained to accommodate accordingly to your child's needs. But this is good because it gives the parents a 2-way access between the teacher and child which keeps them informed of their child's development at every class.

Apart from music, there's also the arts class where the child gets to interact while learning through play. They are introduced to colours, shapes and sizes, subject to the theme for that month.

My son was shy at first and didn't want to participate as it was his first time there. However, the second time around he enjoyed himself and had lots of fun!

A good balance of interaction and creativity amongst the children. The parents can also be in there if the child is too young. But they encourage the parents to wait outside the class because it is good to allow the child to have some time to learn without a parent nearby or some may call it "helicopter parenting". This will further improve their child's self-esteem and courage. Will also help to nurture independent traits in the child. I like this because I wouldn't want my son to be afraid and be labelled as a "mommy's boy". I would like my child to be independent and responsible.

So if you're considering to send your child to groom their interest or hobby in arts or music, or even just a fun activity for them to impeach their creativity, then you may consider Fusion Music Studio!

They also have other enrichment classes that your
child can explore too!
