Grolier Amazing English with Grolier Pen My Kids Edutainment

May 12, 2020 1
How has MCO been for you? It's been kinda havoc for me but it's good because it's the noise and fights and tantrums and cries my kids make everyday without fail. Such wonderful moments that I know I will miss it one day, so I learnt to enjoy it entirely.

However, I am one that refuses to allow my kids to play tablet or watch TV or see YouTube all day long. Playing toys kinda get them bored overtime. I was also asking my son's kindy teacher on what I can do to help my son from home to really continue his K2 lessons without having too long of a break in between. But they only sent some YouTube links to refer to and a short video from their class teacher. Until I couldn't take it and suggested to the principal to setup a Zoom call instead parent-guided and collect workbook to and fro the kindergarten since most of us will not send our kids to school anytime soon. Because it has been unproductive!

But thankfully during the MCO it wasn't all unproductive for me, in fact my son has been picking up on his English that he can now explain and give me pretty good excuses for me to think about.

I would say investing in the Grolier Amazing English new launch series and the Grolier Pen was the best thing ever because not only my 6 year old love it and follows it, but his younger brother, my 4 year old loves it too!

I love how it does not just speaks out that singular word, but it can even read a whole sentence in full. Even the Amazing Words book covers a huge range of vocabularies that covers alot of general words we use in our everyday life in the world today. It also plays out the sound of the objects or animals on the book. You can even customize the sound by recording your voice over the words instead of the default voice pre-installed.

With over 5,000 words and 1,400 images, it is just worth it and enough to keep my kids occupied for an hour or so.

A Book Is A Gift You Can Open again and again

February 12, 2019 0
The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. – Dr. Seuss

And this is very true. Since young, my mom always encouraged me to read a book a day. I was one who never liked to study, but my mom told me to read a book instead of just role-playing with Barbie or watching TV all day long (there was no iPads or smartphones back then). So I took her advise and look through books from my sister's room. I remember reading Archie comic books as the first ever story book I touched! However, it was just simple flipping through the pages. Then I told my mom I wanted to see what else is out there?

I remember she took me around town to find a local bookstore who rents books back then and as I was looking at the comics section, she told me to look for stories instead of comics. So I checked out Enid Blyton and that's how my storybook reading journey finally began.

Fast forward to today, I have came a long way and have my parents to thank for. Taking me to the bookstore to return the books and to rent another book to read up and repeat again and again. It was just exciting! Until these bookstores started to close down one by one. And technology started blooming as was I.

As a mom of 2 and soon-to-be 3 kids, I would definitely love them to experience life as is, like a book of wonderful journey that awaits them to start their own story.

So I've been looking online for books for my children and I found this website of My Children's Book that actually offers really affordable and a wide selection of hand-picked titles with up to 80% discounts off it's normal price because they are an online retailer that specializes in used story books for kids in Malaysia.

I love how they categorize their selection by age group and by popular categories and titles. It really shows that they have a large variety of selection to choose for. But most importantly, I can just click and wait for my books to arrive at my doorstep. I don't have to hunt down for the next upcoming book clearance fairs anymore, although the difference of the books may be of its quality such as new or used. But even at bookstores, some books have already been used on the spot itself so its really no difference, so long as it's condition is still good.

My Children's Bookstore also has a guide that explains their condition of their books as you check out their book selection range. They even show the quantity available.

Given the chance, I wouldn't mind receiving a book as a gift. Because books are like keys to very informative knowledge that you may never know what you got yourself into until you start reading it!

Another thing that I find really useful is that each book has "More Info" that you can view to see the details of the book and its origin publisher and how many pages it consists of. Apart from that, there's also a Synopsis section where most of the books has a short caption explaining what is the book all about. But to really know what the book is truly all about is to just get it!

I gotten 9 books for my kids to learn reading for the first time on their own & also a variety for me to read them bedtime stories. Mostly is Ladybird and also Enid Blyton too!

The pricing is definitely reasonably affordable, and the condition are all almost as new and very good! Some other books has options to choose good or acceptable (library copy) conditions etc, which will definitely bring the price lower for sure!

Multiple payment gateway options
So if you're on a budget then why not? Afterall, as long as the book can still be read even though it may not be of fresh prints. I believe every item holds a memory in place and books that has been read, has more stories to tell, atleast it will smell like a real book would smell like! (Most book lovers can relate!)

A book can take you on many journeys at anywhere anytime and that is priceless! And my kids were equally excited to receive their books that I ordered for them!

They are now choosing which book I should read for them every night now. Atleast on the bright side, they are now following my footsteps in showing passion in reading books at a much younger age when compared with me back then.

I was expecting maybe some worn out pages or yellow stains or lots of scribble. But just look at the condition that all these books arrived in!! It looks really new, almost new! There were some with names in it but it wasn't scribbles on every page. Totally worth it!

However, the good condition ones goes out pretty fast but they have over 1,000 titles available, you will be too spoilt for choice!

KLC English Learning Centre Malaysia

October 28, 2018 3
My son just started kindergarten last week and it was to prep him for K1 next year as he turns 5 years old (by year). However, in months he only turns 4 years old on 11th November. I've came across various kindy's who told me that my son still baby talks and his speech is not properly developed and feared that he may not cope and some even dare to suggest a speech delay specialist and whatnot's.

But I know my son well. He understand very well, takes instructions properly and he can even read and recognize colours and shapes without anyone to teach him that! However, his pronunciation is still like a baby talking and sometimes he will just keep quiet but it's not that he can't speak, he just don't want to. So starting kindergarten was nerve-wrecking for me, my son loved it, he said "bye bye mommy" from the very first day of school and never looked for me at all. He is independent, brave, playful. So I decided to just let him explore more on his English language in terms of speech, spelling and pronunciation.

So I found out about KLC English Language Centre that held their Grand Opening last Sunday and decided to drop by for a visit. Upon entering, the teachers and staffs were really friendly and welcoming. As we waited for my son's free class assessment to begin, he enjoyed himself at the waiting area where there was a really cool lego table filled with so much fun and landmines! (Landmines = Try stepping on a Lego and you'll know what I mean)

I was also able to see some of KLC achievements at their showcase display, alongside with some toys that can be redeemed via stamps collected. Which I found out after, that those stamps are awarded to the students who attend classes and so on. Then they can collect their target and redeem their prize one day. It's a really good encouraging reward system for the kids.

There's 3 rooms inside for the class to take place. And my son entered one of it. I really love the concept of the centre because it is not too stressful or too crowded and it is almost like a personal tutoring for your child where they get to interact directly with the teacher. Each class can only hold a maximum of 4 students at a time and the session only lasts for 45 mins each time.

It is best to attend class 3 times a week for 45 minutes each time to get the fastest and bestest result possible for your child. The teachers here are well-trained and dedicated in what they do. Every student gets 15 free replacement class at no charge and in terms of arranging time slots for classes, there are 8 slots on weekdays and 10 slots on weekends. Preferably to remain at the same time slot across weekly/monthly.

KLC was first established as a preschool since 2009 and until now, they currently focus on two main services which are the Preschool and the Language Centre. Their goal is to provide students with an enjoyable and effective learning experience that will set them on a path to life long success. Because the beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take away from you!

KLC has various programs Silver, Gold, Platinum programs, Master Key Program and Treasure Box Program, however, the type of program that will be presented to each parent-child may differ because it is all depending on the ability of the child.

The Master Key Program is for 3-14 years old of age. Through this program, the children are taught to read intuitively without memorizing vocabulary and advance their reading ability and critical thinking. I feel that this is very crucial in learning the language, because my mom taught me the same way, she always encourage me to read books to improvise my English and she will read them with me and correct my grammars and pronunciations. Hence, I am able to write a blog and create content with my own words through my own experience and language learning form my mom. Therefore, I totally agree that this method truly works and you must have someone to guide you through, if not you won't be bothered to read at all. Because when children are able to master reading on their own one fine day, thus increasing their confidence in reading and speaking altogether! What your child will take away from the Master Key Program is that they will be able to "read by eye" and "spell by ear".

Treasure Box Program on the other had, is a comprehensive English Cambridge program for YLE examination, which covers the essential components of the English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading & writing. This includes grammar, vocabulary and comprehension. This program may sound stressful but surprisingly it is not! Under the Treasure Box Program, you get to learn how to speak, read, write in a more fun and easy way; experience hands-on activities to enrich the English language skills and achieve English mastery in a short time.

KLC develops their own program and follows the Orton-Gillingham method, even their teachers are trained with Orton-Gillingham. And all of the program at KLC won't even last you a year (subject to each child's learning ability and timely attendance to class). With a good discipline to complete the program, all these can be completed in 5 months! Because with only a maximum of 4 students per class to ensure that your child gets the attention they need, their learning efficiency is 6 times faster than normal reading methods! They even provide a daily report where parents can log into the KLC app on their mobile to get updates, info's and details of their child's progress and upcoming activities. Parents can also arrange the classes via the app as well.

Because kids, when they get it, they will soar like an eagle! So the best advise is don't rush them, some may be fast and some may take their time, as long as it is not alarming and they are not responding then all is well.

If your child matches any of these criteria below;
- Can't understand English
- Hate English
- Unable to use English to communicate
- Stutter when speaking English
- Have a thick accent
- Can't remember words
- No interest to learn English
- Not doing well in English
- No confidence to speak English
- Unsuitable course (outside)
- Trouble writing or spelling
- Bad grades in English

Then you should consider to walk-in to KLC for a free 20 minute assessment (worth RM99) now while it last or you can call to arrange for a meet up to take their trial classes that they are offering FREE 3 trial classes worth RM150 valid in this first 6 months! (until further notice)* It will be worth your time and money! Trust me! I am a convinced parent myself!
