Dream Home Coming True with IDW Design

Being an entrepreneur in my field while building my dreams along my NuProfessional journey has been an exciting and fun experience. The best part of this is I am finally able to realize my dream really soon. They say dream big dreams! Dare to dream big! And BELIEVE! So I did, and true enough, I almost got my own home end of 2020 but the waiting list was taken up and I knew the next big one was waiting for me. Little did I know, I actually am not that excited with just a double storey unit but a Semi-D instead, and recently my son added 1 more request to our family dream house with a swimming pool in the backyard.

Then I realize one thing, I can't just pick a home off the market, it will be incomplete. I must design it ground up!

The minute I decided on this thought, the Universe works in beautiful wondrous ways and brought me IDW Design right to my doorstep! At first I thought it was like any other interior designing book of ideas and such but I did a little digging and I knew I had to share what I've learnt about IDW Design & Build.

From its humble beginnings in 2007, both founders Lokman Hakim and Rabiatul Adawiyah at the early age of 21 (yes! 21 my friend!), established IDW Design & Build as a start-up business in interior and renovation that was driven after receiving their first offer to design and renovate a bungalow which costed RM1.4 million. When they were 24yrs old, they received another huge project of RM1.7 million to design a college that took one year for the completion progress! Through all the challenges in the business and life puts out at them, they faced them both head on and both founders tied-the-knot in 2012! Just when things seem it was all in plan, life will put anyone through challenges no matter what path one may take and in 2017, a fire tragedy that almost took Lokman Hakim and his family's precious life when they were staying at their New Zealand vacation home. Due to such incident, they had the "push factor" to educate and grow their team stronger in continuing IDW business legacy. Determined to to help 1 million home property owner to get their dream home equipped with beauty and perfection! Fast forward to 2020, the pandemic hit the world by storm and everything changed! However, both founders immediately shifted their main focus to give their very best in IDW Design & Build. Like the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Due to the lock down measures happening everywhere, many people sought for home improvements as they were confined to their own private space at home and that was where IDW becomes the pioneer in designing a comfortable place to work, study and spend time with the family.

And there you have it! Because of all the challenges faced, the "New Normal" inspired IDW Design & Build to release their first book collection entitled IDW Design Collection in helping more homeowner to get their dream home! That's why I gotten a copy of it because it is going to be really useful for me for re-designing my new home in the super near future. My kids has been bugging me for a certain collection for awhile now and out of all the brand's, SkipHop is still my no.1 brand that I will pick anytime over the others.

For its convenience and super adorable design that is practical and versatile. I just had to get the whole set. Sometimes I wonder, is it the kid that is excited of the parent itself?

Cos I was equally excited opening the box when we received it. And my kids had a fun time modelling out the bags.

I can't wait to bring them to picnic soon, seeing as my son loves going outdoors. The bag is really convenient and handy enough for my kids to carry themselves.

Each bag type has its own purpose and usage. It makes me feel pretty organized and also encourages my son's to organise accordingly too.

Before you know it, Raya is coming around the corner very soon now! And if you're an expecting mom like me, then this will be the perfect Raya Collection that you will not want to miss!

I didn't know what size I was but after giving my measurements to them,they helped me send the right size for me! This is quite common actually, because pregnant moms then to grow in size and may differ in shape most times; Hence your usual dress size may usually vary.

When I received my parcel, I was excited to put it on and took a few preview shots trying it out at home!

I like how it's fabric was really comfortable and it was thick enough to keep me warm but it's texture is smooth and cooling enough to keep me feeling comfortable in it all day long even in our hot and humid weather in Malaysia.

It's workmanship was really good too! Originated from Bungasunti, it makes this collection a unique and beautiful maternity kebaya that worth value for money!

What do you know about Batik?

Ever thought about it before?

If you're like me, am sure you may have the same common understanding that Batik is a unique design by Asians, especially amongst the Malay community with their traditional Batik design and attires.

In fact, you're probably thinking, batik is a sarung or baju kurung or a cloth with nice pattern print design. But what if I tell you that, this post may change the way you see, think, imagine and feel about batik more than you can even imagine it's purpose for!

At The Batik Boutique, the story to how it began to it's solid footing here in Malaysia today, truly marks a gift that the founders and its creators really inspires and empowers more people with their humble beginnings.

Amy Blair, met her friend Ana, a single mother in 2009 and through her friend she actually met a few women who were living in PPR flats in a very poor and rundown condition with their family. It saddened her to see that they didn't have the opportunity that she had when she was growing up in the states. And settling here in Malaysia building her family here, after meeting these ladies, she were inspired to find ways to help these ladies and her friend Ana to have a better chance in Malaysia.

Ever since then, from a few ladies who had zero knowledge in sewing or batik, learned baby steps and finally, from sewing from home, to studios, into retail outlets and now into exporting across borders such as UK, US, Australia, Japan and abroad; The Batik Boutique truly made its humble mark in proving that you can do anything if you just don't give up!

The women who are involved can now earn a sustainable income to support their family unlike before, they can finally stand on their own two feet and be independent. You see, the Batik Boutique was created with the mission to teach women how to sew and to work with artisans in Malaysia.

They have just recently launched their 'Holiday Collection' a couple of weeks ago and the result was overwhelming as it was almost sold out.

I really love their display of the 'Holiday Collection', it's truly befitting for the upcoming festive season Christmas. What's even better, celebrating Christmas in Malaysia with the true art of the beautiful and unique Batik design.

If you noticed the pillow design that I am cuddling with, was actually inspired through the founder Amy, rummaging through some of the batik blocks from one of the artisan and she saw a tenung design weaved on the batik. That's how this pillow design was born for this 'Holiday Collection'.

They also have 2 types of clutches, one in greyish white and another in vibrant colors; the colorful one is almost sold out as well by the way.

Everything that the Batik Boutique has to offer are all 100% handmade, including the tassels on some of the products.

It's really amazing to see women who started from scratch, they had nothing, everything from zero ground up, zero skills and no knowledge of sewing, even one of them couldn't read or write but they all needed one thing in their life, and that is money for their family. Through learning this skill set, they now make a decent living and continues to create these marvelous collection for the world.

I really love how the Batik Boutique does not just focus on selling batik cloths etc, but they offer you a wide array of variety in batik design, such as having modernise fashion but in batik styles.

Batik Boutique successfully expresses to the public that batik can be modern and be used for more than just apparels, yet, it can still be casual AND each piece is unique because they work with artisans.
