KidZania Be A Star is back! (Season 2)

December 01, 2019 0
This time of the year is my favourite! School holidays gets even better with KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star variable school-holiday programme that is now back for a second season by popular demand! The second season of the Be A Star programme promises to be bigger, better and more glamorous, with the aim of exposing young kids to the dynamic world of performing arts and entertainment through fun and engaging learning experiences.

My son will be thrilled! And I will most probably be frequently coming back to KidZania this month more often just for him. Because with KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star programme, it is the ideal platform for young ones to shine and express their creative talents through specially curated activities and workshops, including the highly lauded STARZ Talent Contest, which will make a comeback with more alluring prizes such as a Canon iNSPiC C, Canon TS8270 Inkjet PIXMA, one year’s worth of TeaLive supply (52 cups) and also breakthrough prizes from TeaLive, a visit to BFM radio station, cash prizes from Fraser and Neave (F&N), hampers from SUU Balm and more. I don't know how far my son's talent can go but I know he loves entertainment and music especially. He just needs to courage to be brave in public, and it takes practise. Thankfully, I can bring him to KidZania for a good practise!

KidZania Be A Star programme are with collaborating partners comprising Canon, TeaLive, Suu Balm, Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), F&N, BFM 89.9, the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Aqademi.

During the launch, Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur said, “As we are all aware, some of the best and biggest dreamers out there are kids. So this school holiday, we want to give kids the “star treatment” they truly deserve by exposing them to performing arts and entertainment industry based activities like acting, modelling, singing, dancing, grooming and hosting while also exposing them to today’s current technology to truly give them a hands-on, in-depth experience of what it would be like to ‘Be A Star’.”

“The return of the STARZ Talent Contest this year also brings an exciting element to the mix. There are many kids who possess various talents but don’t get the opportunity to showcase them within the four walls of the classroom setting. Not only does this talent contest allow participants the opportunity to discover what they are good at, it also encourages healthy competition as well as equip them with important life skills as they learn the value of critical feedback, both positive and constructive. Moreover, what we offer is a safe, educational, family-oriented way to gain knowledge about the talent industry,” he added.

Submission of entries for the STARZ Talent Contest will open from 16 to 30 November 2019. The four contest categories include Star Model, Star Singer, Star Presenter and Star Dancer. Aspiring young stars are encouraged to submit an audition video showcasing their talents in singing, dancing, acting or modelling. After which, three finalists from each category will be shortlisted to battle it out at the Final Stage on 28 December 2019. KidZania Kuala Lumpur’s Be A Star programme runs from 23 November to 3 January 2020 to coincide with the year-end school holidays.

Staying true to KidZania’s philosophy of empowering children to “Learn Life Today”, the programme encourages the development of core life skills that will prepare kids for the future such as overcoming shyness, building confidence, and developing positive self-esteem, learning proper etiquette and good manners, and strengthening the ability to interact with others. Apart from the talent contest, six main activities and six weekend workshops will be featured amidst a special activity exclusively for loyalty programme members and other establishment activities to take place within KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

School Holidays at KidZania Malaysia, Introduces "KidZ vs Food 3.0"!

November 15, 2018 11
It's the time of the year again, every year end where kids enjoy their school holiday to prepare for the new semester next year. And being parents, sometimes we wonder what are the activities that we can do with our kids with over a month long holiday break in session?!

Cooking at home is fun but it'll be more fun if we have the space and also friends his age that he can relate and cook together with. Also with an expert and a safe environment is important for your child's safety. I don't encourage children to walk into your kitchen and start cooking without learning "how" in the first place. It can become hazardous!

As you can see my son loves cooking so much that everytime I step into the kitchen he always begs to cook instead. But I have this fear of him hurting his little fingers because my kitchen is not CHILD-SAFE! With the gas stove on and the electrical parts running etc and handling the knife and hot water etc. You really should google up more on child safety in the kitchen and that's why I feel it's important for a child to go for a proper cooking class before actually starting from home, unless you are the expert yourself and your kitchen is safe for kids to be in. Thankfully, KidZania has answered my big ask and this year from 24th November to 31st December 2018, will be introducing to Malaysia the "KidZ vs Food 3.0" activity that will be held at KidZania Kuala Lumpur!

KidZ vs Food 3.0 covers a wide holiday programme that is specially curated for kids, with daily and weekend activities of hands-on activities such as learning the ingredients, preparing food and also cooking. It cultivates your child to know how to work with and appreciate food in all its nature.

The KidZania CongreZZ kids, with special guidance from (Centre – Left) Chef Brian Chen of Young Chefs Academy, cooks and serves yummy dishes to the kids from the Hilla Community Centre during the ‘KidZ vs Food 3.0’ launch. (Centre – Right) Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur was present to witness the serving of this special feast.

With the help of professional chef 'Abang' Brian from the Young Chefs Academy (YCA), the children of Hilla Community Centre were treated to a meal of Turmeric Chicken and long beans with rice and Banana Chocolate Rolls for dessert.

KidZania CongreZZ kids showcase amazing teamwork in cooking up a storm for their underprivileged friends at the launch of KidZania Kuala Lumpur ‘KidZ vs Food 3.0’.

It is really inspiring to have activities such as this that truly dedicates to teaching and instilling the right skills that every child should possess. As cooking is a part of a survival skill and it's fun to explore flavours, textures and ingredients altogether. Through cooking, it will also encourage one to self-explore more into enjoying life filled with the abundance of food and ingredients all around us and at the same time instill confidence in self as they cook their own meals. This in fact, helps to nurture our children to be independent.

I've always wanted my son to take on my hobby of enjoying food from all over the world and if he desires to be a chef one day, who am I to reject his dreams. But I will surely bring him over to learn these basic skill while allow him to have fun and enjoy cooking in the process. Keeps me (as a parent) sane as well.
