Rocku Yakiniku @ Pavilion KL

Rocku Yakiniku @ Pavilion KL is the place to be! It's located at the Dining Loft on the newly extended 7th floor of Pavilion KL (on the other end near GSC). Thanks to OpenRice lovely invite to this food tasting event, I brought my baby (7mth old) and my hubby along.

The latest crave in town is this new concept restaurant that focuses on 3 important factors to note :

1. "Restaurantainment"
A Traditional style of Japanese BBQ Buffet dining meets modern entertainment.

2. Their special homemade sauces (Total 4 sauces)
a) Tare sauce is the key seasoning for Japanese BBQ meat. This special sauce will be served seasoned over the beef platters.
The other 3 sauces you can refill at the sauce station near the bar.
b) Spicy Miso sauce is seasoned over the seafood & pork meat.
c) Ponzu sauce is like soy sauce for added flavouring while dining.
d) Chili sauce for added spicyness to your BBQ while dining.
(P/s : All the BBQ meat will come dressed in the sauces, we were served like this because we just love to take a before and after shot of those beautiful succulent meat! Food tasting event in style~! Lolx!!)

3. Smoke-free BBQ system
Each BBQ grill has a suction system installed inside surrounding the grill instead of at the top of the grill. The place was completely smoke-free even when me and my family stepped in, we were welcomed by soothing music(s) and cool air-cond.
Watch with your own eyes, the smoke being sucked in at the sides even when the flame was flaming hot!
Here's a tip : In order to avoid your food getting "stuck" unto the BBQ netting, start BBQ-ing the "Pork Bacon" slices FIRST! Because the layer of fatty oil from it will help coat the netting with it's oil so that when you start placing all the other raw meat/seafood on it, you won't have to worry about it getting stuck! And like all BBQ food, please have someone to watch over it and keep turning it for an even grill if not it'll turn black on one side lolx!!

The deco at the entrance of Rocku Yakiniku is fascinating! Traditional meets wild lolx... There's a jail-like at the entrance for you to selfie/wefie, comes with props too!

The menu is pretty simple because you only need to choose between Lunch & Dinner :

Each buffet session lasts for 100mins including 20 additional dishes from their delectable buffet spread. You can even choose to extend at RM9.90 for each additional 20 minutes.
(100mins is more than enough if you're there without kids, however, in our case it took us a lil longer)

By the way, beverages & ice cream are not included in the buffet price but fret-not! They have promotions on-going for it:
Or you can just order yourself a jug of 1L green tea for RM3 (No bottomless refills, fyi)

This is how to layout looks from the inside, we sat right inside at the corner. Notice that there is 1 charcoal grill installed into every table of 4 pax. The deco looks cool btw with the bottles hanging from the ceiling at the "Buffet bar" and the stage is right smack in the centre.

This is the "buffet bar" where customers can find 5 sections to this area; There are the ready-to-eat salads, raw sliced veggies that you can BBQ them, fruits from the basket, hot dishes like fried udon/spaghetti/rice, chawan mushi, fried veggie (the dishes rotates btw) & their special homemade sauces section. So while waiting for your BBQ meat to cook, you can checkout some of the hot dishes here to satisfy your hunger-pangs!

This was my buffet bar haul while awaiting for the BBQ grill to cook our meat sizzling hot hehehe... We went 2 rounds because the dishes rotated twice hehe...

Every table will come with a set of cutleries, scissors for cutting up the cooked meat into pieces (great idea for sharing!), tongs for grilling raw meat and so on. Also notice the BBQ grill installed at the table, before, starting (when the charcoal and new netting is placed in) and after grilling.

These are some of our BBQ delicacies that we enjoyed! Their meat are all flown in fresh from the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. And there's an order chit on every table where customers can write in their orders for the meat and seafood to refill.

Here's a close-up:
Each type of meat/seafood comes in 3 slides/pieces per portion/plate. So if u need 6 pieces of salmon then just write 2 in the box for 2x portion/plates. There are no food wastage penalty at the moment but don't lah so greedy. Just order what you "can" eat because the BBQ grill is not huge FYI.

These are the seafood delicacies.
Their salmon cut in cubes is really fresh and their scallops is really yummy! They also have butter fish which the fish meat is really sweet, thick and juicy.

On the night we were there, it was a Jazz Night featuring Bossa Princess Z Yan. My baby approve of it! He's either staring at the stage watching them perform or he is asleep lolx...

At Rocku Yakiniku, being the first "Restaurantainment" in Malaysia, there are live band entertainment happening daily.

Here's the schedule for your references :

The Last Polka ice cream you can order from the counter. With 3 flavours to choose from; Coconut, Deep Dark Chocolate & Mango; Each scoop costs RM3.90. These are homemade ice-creams and are only made fresh to deliver, hence Rocku Yakiniku needs to place their orders to restock them as early as 4 days in advance!

However, since this was a food tasting event for us thanks to OpenRice, we were able to enjoy a scoop each per pax so we shared with a sweet couple who was also invited for this food tasting event (we're in the same table btw hehe).

Coconut : The coconut fragrance was slightly strong in smell and taste but it's acceptable (like eating coconut sweet).
Deep Dark Chocolate : Definitely deep and dark. Very rich in chocolate I would daresay. Abit too sweet to my liking.
Mango : I personally love this, tastes like real mango, smooth and not too sweet. Just perfect.

Thanks to OpenRice for the lovely invite and also to the lovely couple who we had fun BBQ together hehe, some of our food were burnt especially when the charcoal was really burning (fire in action)~! But it was a great experience meeting new friends and also it was Baby Daniel's 2nd but 1st official food tasting event hehe.

I give this place Rocku Yakiniku, TWO big THUMBS up!
