ShopeeFood x Pizza Hut Celebrates Ramadhan and Hari Raya with their food delivery partners

April 21, 2023 0

In conjunction with Ramadhan and the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, ShopeeFood together with Pizza Hut organised several berbuka puasa sessions across Klang Valley and Selangor for its fleet of food delivery partners.

The #ShopeeDeliversLove campaign is in its second year and aims to show appreciation to ShopeeFood delivery partners. Hundreds of delivery partners attended the sessions across many locations such as Wangsa Maju, Kota Damansara, Kepong and Kajang. Besides feasting on various yummy pizzas and beverages provided by Pizza Hut, the delivery partners also received many other goodies like Hari Raya cookies and petrol vouchers.

According to Kwa Yin Leng, Head of Operations for ShopeeFood Malaysia: “We are excited to be able to host this event on an annual basis for our delivery partners. ShopeeFood recognises the important role driver partners play in our business. As such, we continue to engage them closely, to better understand their needs. We take our driver partners’ feedback seriously, implement support initiatives and policies that meet their needs and continuously improve their welfare.”

“ShopeeFood is committed to delivering the highest quality of service for our customers by providing our users with value, variety and convenience through an integrated ecosystem. We hope by providing good food to our delivery partners, they will have more flexibility to observe their religious duties while delivering customer orders during this busy period,” she added. Besides receiving food, delivery partners were also given a chance to win attractive lucky prizes that included smartphones, helmets and other riding apparel like raincoats.

Delivery partners interviewed during the event also expressed their appreciation for the gesture from ShopeeFood. En. Faizal bin Hashom who has been working with ShopeeFood for more than one and a half years said: “It is such a great event, and I hope ShopeeFood can organise a bigger one in the future so more drivers can attend it together. The timing to have the event during the month of Ramadan and Hari Raya is good as well.”

Another delivery partner, En. Abdul Qayum Bin Baharum said: “This event is really good for drivers to get together to not only meet new friends that are working in the same area but also a great opportunity to meet the ShopeeFood management team. The gifts are very attractive and I am grateful that we are able to participate in this event. Thank you ShopeeFood.”

Documentary of Malaysia MH17 : In Memory

July 14, 2020 0
It has been 6 years this coming 17th July since the tragedy of MH17 that was shot down en route to Kuala Lumpur. I remember the time it happened; it was a heartfelt moment of sadness that spread out throughout the country.

I knew some of my friends who knew people on the flight that they lost that very day. It was devastating and unbelievable, yet it was still puzzling why, how, who and all the unanswered questions, until I saw a documentary titled "MH17: In Search for the Truth” that is available for free viewing on Youtube platform with subtitles in Chinese, Bahasa Melayu, German, French and Spanish; It was even in UkrLeaks website. To date, the documentary has been watched by more than two million viewers.

It was a mind-blowing revelation because, while the Ukrainian authorities held the pro-Russian rebels in the Donbass region of Ukraine responsible for the tragedy with the support of the Russian government, Prozorov had another theory. Vasily Prozorov, is the Former Officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Head of the Vasily Prozorov Investigation Center “Ukrleaks” that released his documentary titled ‘MH17: in Search of Truth’ highlighted the tragedy of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) because Prozorov along with a few volunteers forked out their own finances to fund the project which took about five months to complete.

There were many questions that remained a mystery in relation to the MH17 tragedy. Who was the real mastermind behind this shoot down? Was there any party that benefited from such tragedy? Why didn’t Kiev close the airspace over the conflict zone? What happened to the dispatcher right after the investigation? Who are the people who claimed to be the British special service officers? Prozorov continued to provoke the public.

Little did I know that actually, many independent investigators have found too many inaccuracies in the official statements made by Kiev. Therefore, Prozorov began to conduct his own investigation to find out if there were more details excluded in the report. For someone who served in the SBU for 15 years to put effort into this documentary and findings is definitely something worth finding out. Especially when it is relating to tragedy like this with no proper closure.

This documentary definitely opened my eyes to things that never crossed my mind before. It was also because Prozorov obtained the exclusive insider information and was an indirect witness of the Boeing tragedy. It was during his investigation, he analysed a great number of the Ukrainian state bodies’ internal documents and conducted interviews with numerous eyewitnesses. In fact, in this documentary he also added his perspective during his service with the SBU.

The Youtube video above basically sums up under 40-minute documentary that was divided into two parts of which Prozorov analysed the official reports and compiled the statements made by the Ukrainian authorities and the joint investigation team. In the second part, he offered his own view and raised arguments to urge the public to make their own conclusion on the MH17 tragedy.

Vasily Prozorov publications and interviews with journalists in his website "UkrLeaks Investigation Centre", covers corruption, war crimes and crimes against humanity that are the author’s most preferred topics. If you would like to know more, I think the best person to speak to is to Prozorov himself.

As I feel that there are too many innocent lives taken away by this tragedy of the MH17 and I want to wish my deepest condolences to all the family members of the victims on MH17 as I believe no matter what, there must be a reason for everything that happens in life. Life is short, so make it meaningful and make the most of it. As we enter the new norm now after the pandemic, let's just hope for greater and happier times ahead, in good health and with great hopes for the future!
Stay safe! Stay healthy!

J-Beauty growth with ShiseidoXShopee partnership

April 28, 2020 0
Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, and Shiseido Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Shiseido Company, Limited, one of the world’s most established beauty companies, reaffirm their strategic partnership through a Joint Business Plan (JBP). This JBP is a unified work plan which details the joint efforts by Shiseido and Shopee to drive the growth of J-Beauty in Southeast Asia.

The agreement will enable Shiseido Asia Pacific to leverage Shopee's extensive user base and deep understanding of Southeast Asian online shoppers to amplify its online presence and accessibility; ultimately enabling the company to capture the immense growth opportunities in the region. Through this partnership, Shiseido also aims to reinforce its position as the leader of the fast-growing Japanese beauty (J-beauty) category in Southeast Asia.

J-beauty is on the rise in Southeast Asia, with a majority share of voice of 58.7%. Much of its growth is attributed to an increase in foreign tourists to Japan and consequent exposure of popular products through social media. J-beauty is usually associated with innovative technologies and stellar research and development, which enables the efficacy of the products.

Pranay Mehra, Vice President of Digital and eCommerce, Shiseido Asia Pacific, said, “We want to be where our consumers are when they’re shopping for beauty and skincare products.  How we connect with them has always been a strategic priority for Shiseido in Asia Pacific, and I am confident that we will continue to extend our e-commerce presence with Shopee as our primary strategic partner. We remain committed to our customers and look forward to leveraging Shopee’s expertise to enhance our product accessibility, deepen online engagement and ultimately forge stronger connections with consumers and fellow beauty brand lovers across Southeast Asia.”

The JBP will see close collaboration between both companies and Shiseido broadening its multi-brand portfolio offerings, including but not limited to ANESSA, SENKA and Tsubaki, on Shopee across all six Southeast Asian markets by 2020, with a focus on Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as in high potential non-capital cities. The partnership will also see Shiseido’s expansion into new markets such as Taiwan. Shiseido will also utilise the Shopee Brands Suite to reach, connect and deepen engagement with current and new customers in each market. Both brands are working closely to develop content for the newly-launched Shopee Feed, which provides an upgraded social experience for shoppers. The partnership will also see the roll-out of localised brand campaigns that aim to promote brand storytelling.

Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director, Shopee, said, “We always anticipate the trends and needs of our users, and we noticed that there has been a growing demand for ‘Made in Japan’ products in Southeast Asia, especially in the beauty and skincare categories. Partnering with Shiseido, one of the world’s most established beauty companies, will allow us to capitalise on their industry expertise and strengthen our J-beauty offerings, unlocking more choices and value for our users. We are honoured to be named as one of Shiseido’s primary strategic e-commerce partners in Southeast Asia, and I am confident that Shopee can help create business impact for them in 2020 and beyond.”

“Southeast Asia is an important and strategic sub-region for Shiseido in Asia Pacific, and through this partnership, we hope that our customers will have greater access to a wider range of beauty brands and products – with the uncompromising quality, innovation and spirit of omotenashi (or Japanese hospitality) – that only Shiseido can provide. I am excited about our growth plans for the future and I look forward to an even stronger partnership with Shopee,” said Mr Osamu Shirai, Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Development, Shiseido Asia Pacific.
